Seven-year-old Artie snuck his way into Home Fur Good. HFG rescued a dog named Webster from county and county said he had a Chihuahua mix buddy. Due to a little miscommunication, Artie snuck into our van, posing as that buddy. A few days later, county realized the situation and called HFG to tell us that the real Webster buddy, Hector, was still at county. Whoops. HFG won in that mix-up, getting to enjoy 10-pound Artie until he wags his way into the car that will take him to his forever home. The adoption fee is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Home Fur Good took in Chalupa from the county shelter. She was born on January 8, 2018, and at just seven weeks old she was bitten by a larger dog on her itty-bitty noggin. Chalupa went directly into foster care to recover. Initially, she had open wounds and she spun in circles. She is a six-pound Chihuahua mix with a puppy drive to play, and nothing was going to keep her sidelined for long. Her little bean may be a bit misproportioned, but she is a happy, curious puppy now. Chalupa is crate trained. That means she has been left for up to eight hours in her crate with zero accidents. She is working on being house trained. If you watch her, she will wander to the door and start to spin in a circle; that is Chalupa saying she had better be taken outside. She loves to play with her 30-pound foster brother, but she does not care to interact with the 60-pound Golden Retriever that lives next door. Chalupa has slowly learned to give the cat some space, and once she figured out what to do on a walk, she became a big fan of walking the neighborhood. The adoption fee is $300 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Home Fur Good found Charlie at the county shelter in March 2017. He was a sad sack suffering from skin allergies. He was itchy, raw and even had open wounds. Charlie is on a special prescription diet and has grain-free treats, which have helped him immensely. He has a great attitude and craves being a member of the family. Charlie loves to be in the mix; he is no wallflower. He is a four-year-old Pit Bull mix weighing 60 pounds. He is very strong physically and determined mentally. When Charlie wants to do something, he is going to do it. He will do best with an owner with an even stronger will, who will be consistent and firm. Charlie cannot be allowed to rule the roost; he needs structure. He is a solid low-rider who does not know that he could bowl you over. He adores kids, but he does not always keep to his personal space and so he needs to be around older kids or kids who will not mind getting knocked off their feet a time or two. Charlie is low-maintenance when it comes to activity. A brisk walk or short burst of play will keep him happy. If you sit down, by the time you blink his head will be in your lap. Charlie would do best as an only dog; he does have a few quirks with sharing. He is looking for a forever home, but we are currently accepting applications to foster Charlie. He needs a break from the hustle and bustle of shelter life. A foster home would also provide excellent insight to his temperament in a home environment. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Four-year-old Chloe came to Home Fur Good via a partnership with Humane Animal Rescue and Trapping Team (HARTT). She is a 69-pound Coonhound mix with the sweetest disposition. Hound dogs normally have quite a bit to say, but Miss Chloe seems to prefer to listen; at least so far she has not voiced many opinions. Chloe is very friendly and walks on the leash like a lady. The adoption fee for Chloe is $300, which is higher than it would be under our normal fee schedule. That is because Chloe is one of our Guardian Angel dogs. Guardian Angel dogs are highly desirable adoptees, and their increased fees are used expressly to help defray costs for our rescues with special needs such as advanced medical treatment or training for behavioral issues, or for those who are with us for unusually long periods of time. In this way the Guardian Angels directly help our other rescues! All adoption fees include spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Talk about Hulkamania, Hogan took his beefing up to a whole new level. His family was moving, and they turned this gentle giant in at the county shelter. County immediately recognized that a nine-year-old dog can be hard to adopt out, but when that older dog is also an obese dog, weighing 125 pounds, that dog will find himself on the euthanasia list. County used social media to put out a plea to help Hogan. Home Fur Good stepped in and rescued him, and then went straight to work on getting him a diet plan and testing for any health issues that may have caused his weight gain. His owners stated that they left Hogan outside both day and night, but that he is housebroken. They stated that Hogan likes adults, children, and other dogs. Hogan is looking for a home where he can be a member of the family, a family committed to making him a healthy dog. In return, he will definitely turn them into Hulkamaniacs! Two-year-old Javier came to Home Fur Good from MCACC West, the animal shelter of Maricopa County. Javier is a 19-pound Pembroke Welsh Corgi mix. If you would like to win over Javier, all you need to do is pull out a squeaky toy. Squeak a toy and he transforms from a shy wallflower into a bounding, pouncing, and playful little boy. He shared a kennel at county, and while he is new to Home Fur Good, indications are that he will fit right into the Small-Dog Playgroup. County notes state that he was timid and skittish on impound, but that he allowed handling. They recommend older children in his new home. Javier is wary of a leash, but he allows himself to be picked up; just move slowly and let him see your actions. He just takes a visit or two to be your best buddy. I got to meet Javier in his kennel at county and he allowed me to pick him up. On his second day at HFG he allowed me to carry him out to the yards and he showed me how much fun squeaky toys are. This girl is purr-fect and an absolute gem! Li'l Muffin used to be a stray but now she is a rescued cat. She is incredibly loving, affectionate, and gentle. She craves attention from people: she willl follow her people around and reach out with her paw or stand up on her hind legs trying to get attention. She is also the kind of cat who likes to share her human's bed. She does not mind being picked up, and then she will press her face against the person's face and purr. She needs a person or family who has time for her, someone who will appreciate and love her for the rest of her life. An interesting fact about Li'l Muffin: when she drinks water, she sticks her paw in the water bowl. If you are interested in Li'l Muffin, come and visit her at the shelter. She is a little over 1 year old. Her $85 adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccinations, microchip and a free wellness visit with our vet within two weeks of the adoption date. Louise came to us with her brothers (one has been adopted!) and a sister at 11 months of age from a difficult situation: their mother had been left pregnant by her family that moved away, a neighbor took her in, let her have the kittens in her home, but never had time for the kittens. They were kept in a laundry room their entire life, so when one of our volunteers arrived there, she decided to give them a chance at a better life. She's still pretty scared and not trusting of people, but our volunteers are working with her. She's young, playful, beautiful - she deserves a chance at a better life. We would like to see her adopted with her brother Tanman as she relies on him a lot and he helps her feel more confident. Both kitties are great with other cats. Their estimated date of birth is 5/27/2016. He was then adopted for six months, and now he has come back. Luca has a birthdate of July 15, 2016. He is a long-coat Chihuahua mix weighing in at a chunky-monkey 18 pounds. He knows he is an irresistibly foxy boy, and his sweet puppy face will make you want to reward him with treats just for being so dang cute. Luca does know the cue to sit, and he appears to know how to play fetch, but he has a very short attention span. Luca is looking for a committed family that will teach him manners and guide him in learning all the good-dog tricks. Luca enjoys playing with other small dogs at HFG and he happily meets new people. Shelby is a beautiful cat who came to us with two other cats (adopted!). When we tested all three cats, her feline companions tested negative for both FIV and FeLV; Shelby, however, tested positive for FIV (and negative for FeLV). FIV stands for feline immunodeficiency virus that causes a weakening of the cat’s immune system. However, FIV-positive cats can live normal lives, both in quality and duration. If they’re well cared for, they can be healthy, happy, wonderful pets. FIV-positive cats can live with FIV-negative cats as long as they don't fight because the most common route of infection is a deep bite wound from an FIV-positive cat to another cat. For more information about FIV please visit this website: https://bestfriends.org/resources/fiv-cats-faqs-feline-immunodeficiency-virus-information Her estimated date of birth is 08/11/2011. This a **Courtesy Post**. **Sweetie is NOT with Home Fur Good**. ***You will need to CONTACT HER RESCUER (please see BELOW) to meet her.*** Sweetie is a beautiful caliby (calico + tabby) cat whose life started outside in the Arizona heat, but has come to love the life of an indoor pampered princess. A doting mother to her two young sons, she has finished raising them to be their best selves and is now ready to relax into life with a happy family looking for a sweet affectionate feline companion. She loves hunting for sunny spots to laze in, and occasionally persuaded into playing with a selection of fine toys. Her favorite hobby, however, is to rub lovingly against her humans legs to get her purr motor going. Sweetie would be happiest being the sole princess of your household. If she has to share, she’d be most appreciative of a slow introduction. She is about one year of age. Sweetie is spayed and is up to date on vaccinations. There is a small adoption fee. If you are interested in meeting Sweetie, please contact Jenn at jennlfrey79@gmail.com or text@602-509-0259.

Tanman came to us with his brother (adopted!) and sisters at 11 months of age from a difficult situation: their mother had been left pregnant by her family that moved away, a neighbor took her in, let her have the kittens in her home, but never had time for the kittens. They were kept in a laundry room their entire life, so when one of our volunteers arrived there, she decided to give them a chance for a better life. Tanman needs some time to adjust to a new situation and new people, he needs time to learn to trust and a slow introduction to everything new. When he feels comfortable, he welcomes gentle petting and purrs up a storm. We would like to see him adopted with his sister Louise who is even shyer than he is and needs him to feel confident. Both kitties are great with other cats and they need that special person with the heart of a rescuer, who doesn't mind giving them as much time as they need to feel comfortable. Both Tanman and Louise are young and playful and they can't wait to be someone's beloved pets. Their estimated date of birth is 5/27/2016. Their $50 (each) adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccinations, microchip and a free wellness visit with our vet within two weeks of the adoption date. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday, 11:00 am-4:00 pm and Mondays by appointment, and we are located at 10220 N. 32nd Street (just south of Shea Blvd.) in Phoenix. Out-of-state adoptions to surrounding states are possible; however, an in-person introduction with us and our cats is mandatory. We offer a low-cost vaccine clinic on Sundays from 11:00 am-2:30 pm (walk-in; no appts.), a low-cost dental clinic on Wednesdays by appointment, and one free cat-behavior counseling. Ten-year-old Viola was taken to the county shelter as a stray. She is an 11-pound Long Coat Chihuahua mix with a curly tail. County put in their notes that Viola was calm on intake and that she readily allowed vaccinations. Viola has settled in quickly at Home Fur Good. She willingly allows anyone to reach in and take her out of her kennel. Yes, you could allow Viola to walk out of her kennel on her own, but she is so dang cute it is hard to keep your hands off her. Viola is very curious; she loves to explore and see what she can find. She has a heart murmur and is on medication for it, but it does not keep her from enjoying life and being the sweetest dog. The adoption fee is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm, and Mondays by appointment, and we are located at 10220 N. 32nd Street (just south of Shea Blvd.) in Phoenix.
