 . ARIANA .
 . ARIANA . . ARIANA .
  • Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Mixed Breed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Ariana is a two-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix and she weighs 34 pounds. She is a beautiful brindle girl with golden eyes. You will be lured in by her pleasing looks and then Ariana will start speaking, trying to run you off. You see, this little girl was on the euthanasia list at county due to her fear. Dogs will rarely get over fearfulness on their own; they require assistance from a caring, experienced owner. Ariana can overcome her fear with repetition and consistency. These are things that require time and patience. Ariana is a member of a dog playgroup at Home Fur Good and may do well with a canine role model. Dogs gain self-confidence with obedience skills. With that self-confidence comes the ability to overcome fear. The underlying theme with Ariana is that she needs a home with people willing to spend time on training and who have the patience to work at her pace, and one that is full of love so she can gain confidence and trust. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A COURTESY POST AND BARLEY *IS NOT* AT HOME FUR GOOD**. TO MEET HIM, OR FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE USE THE CONTACT INFORMATION BELOW. Meet Barley, a lovable Lab mix whose parents rescued him two years ago. A significant change in life circumstances requires them to look for a new forever home for him, and they are heartbroken but have no choice. Barley is four years old and weighs about 80 pounds. He is pure sweetness; he loves cuddling so much that he sometimes forgets his size and wants to curl up in your lap. He loves to be active: running around in the yard, going for a good walk, or a hike. Always up for adventure, Barley never misses a chance to hop into the car for a ride with his humans. He also loves fetch, or even just playing chase with anyone who is also interested in a game. Barley is as loyal as they come; he wants more than anything to please his people. Given his size and love of affection, he will do well either as an only dog or as a brother to another large dog. CONTACT INFORMATION: To meet Barley, or for more information, please contact Veronica at 602-708-0109, or veronicamay50@gmail.com. Thank you!

 . BING . . BING . . BING .
  • Cairn Terrier
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Bing will be turning two years old in March 2019. He is a scruffy eight-pound Cairn Terrier mix with expressive radar ears. Bing is happiest when he is romping around in his small-dog playgroup. He loves to run and play chase with his four-legged buddies. Alas, while Bing is great with other dogs, he needs to be adopted by a human, and he does not have immediate trust for new people. He likes to take his time, feel you out, maybe see you more than once, and then you can be his best friend. His antics are almost comical. A new person might be at his kennel door and Bing is being slightly defensive, but then he will recognize someone in the background and his ears go up and his tail starts to wag, and he is ready to come right out. Bing needs an experienced owner who can earn his trust while teaching him his boundaries. Bing is territorial with his kennel and acts like a very different dog when out in a play yard. He enjoys belly rubs, and he will flip over almost immediately when approached outside of his kennel. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

You have heard that two is better than one, and in this case, two Chihuahua mixes will be much more fun than one. Daisy and Dukes are a bonded pair who were turned in by their owner to the county shelter. Home Fur Good is hoping to find them a forever home together. Daisy is ten years old and weighs 11 pounds. Dukes is six years old and weighs 15 pounds. They are good with other dogs, and are open to being picked up and snuggled. Daisy and Dukes will do best in a home with older children who can respect their space. They are outgoing, precious little honeybunches, ready for a forever home. The adoption fee is $300 for both together and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

 . FOZZIE B .
 . FOZZIE B . . FOZZIE B .
  • Cairn Terrier
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Fozzie B will turn three years old in March 2019, right about the time he passes his one-year anniversary mark at Home Fur Good. He is a 19-pound Cairn Terrier mix with an independent nature, but that just might be the very definition of a terrier. When Fozzie B arrived at HFG, he attached himself to his favorite person. He decided he was only going to show his loving side to her and everyone else would be warned off. HFG provided one-on-one training sessions for Fozzie, to work on his selectiveness. He worked with a trainer twice a week. The trainer not only worked with Fozzie, but also with staff and volunteers to show everyone how to positively train Fozzie to allow strangers into his life. Fozzie has really opened up and has become more accepting of others. He loves to receive belly rubs and to give out kisses. He will lay on his back for endless belly rubs. Fozzie is also a great fetcher, although sometimes you need to convince him to give up the ball when he returns it. He has also spent time in a foster home where he exhibited behavior of being fully housebroken; he will use the doggy door. There are other dogs in his foster home, and he gets along with all of them. Fozzie is probably not a good fit with children, but if you have the time and patience to develop an unbreakable bond, please take a moment to meet Fozzie B, and then maybe meet him another time and maybe another, until he is ready to be your best friend. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

 . KOBUK .
 . KOBUK . . KOBUK . . KOBUK .
  • Old English Sheepdog
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Six-year-old Kobuk is ruggedly handsome with an aloof independent side. He has been with Home Fur Good for a year, plenty of time for him to become a favorite of those who have entered his circle of trust. Kobuk does not instantly like everyone he meets. He needs to trust and respect that you are looking out for his best interest before he warms up. Kobuk will thrive in an environment that provides structure and repetition. Respect goes both ways. Kobuk will respect you by following your instruction, and in return you respect Kobuk by teaching him your expectations and providing him with boundaries. Kobuk may sound like a bit of a curmudgeon, but in reality, he is very playful. He plays fetch, goes goofy-silly for squeaky toys, and he will lean on you for love and affection. The shelter is a stressful environment, and after a lengthy stay a dog will not always show his most attractive quirks. Kobuk is looking for a hero who will give him time and patience. Kobuk will need time to shake off his past life, and time to learn what the future holds. He has been a member of doggie play groups at HFG, so if you already have a dog, Kobuk might just be their new best friend. As for statistics, Kobuk is listed as an English Sheepdog mix weighing in at 68 pounds. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

Meet beautiful Lily, a sweet Rottweiler and Hound mix who was found as a stray and needs a forever home because her finders have all the dogs they can manage. Lily gets along well with other dogs. She is a bit shy and takes time to trust people, which of course might be a product of her past. But she is a loving pup who will do well with anyone willing to be just a bit patient and go slowly with her until she gains that confidence. Her time with her very caring finders has gone a long way toward helping her in that effort. Lily weighs 50 pounds and is about two years old. Two-year-old Norris came to Home Fur Good from the county shelter where he had been turned in as a stray. He is a 40-pound Pit Bull mix, with radar ears prepared to hear cheese being unwrapped from a mile away. County noted that Norris was very friendly, and his attitude has not changed since his arrival at HFG. Norris has been on his best behavior, sitting calmly and politely in his kennel, waiting for his turn to come out. When Norris is going to be taken out make sure you are prepared, because out he is going to come, full speed ahead. County noted that Norris was tolerant of other dogs and he has not shown any dog-reactivity at HFG. He is very treat-motivated and he is an expert at the default sit position. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

The new cordial little doggie is Odie. Odie is a 15-pound, 18-month-old Chihuahua mix who was turned in at the county shelter by his owner. Odie had been with his owner a little less than a year, but they were moving and he could not go with them. He appears to be housebroken and he was free to roam his home both day and night. Odie loves adults and children, but he may be dog-selective or perhaps has just not had much canine interaction. Odie has adapted quickly to life at Home Fur Good and he happily allows himself to be picked up and handled. He is a playful little guy looking to make new friends. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Five-year-old Chihuahua mix Oliver was adopted out of Home Fur Good when he was five months old, and he has spent the past five years with the same family. Oliver gets a gold star on his inside-the-house dog skills: he is housebroken, and he can be trusted to be loose in his home both day and night. Oliver enjoys both cat and dog friends; however, he is better with other dogs when he is not on a leash. Not all his leash skills are in need of work, though; he loves to trot about town, his little ears just flopping away. Oliver will do best in a home with older children. He needs to have his space respected. Oliver is receptive to being picked up and held, but he does not care for getting kissed on his face. He is a happy little guy open to making new friends. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A COURTESY POST AND POLLY *IS NOT* AT HOME FUR GOOD**. TO MEET HER, OR FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE USE THE CONTACT INFORMATION BELOW. Meet Polly! She is a seven-year-old Spaniel mix in need of a forever home due to the death of her human dad, who had rescued her from Yavapai Humane in 2015. Polly is currently being fostered by family friends, but they already have four dogs and cannot keep her. She is a very sweet-natured pup and gets along well with the other four dogs. Her foster mom does not know how Polly is with cats or with children, but a meet-and-greet by anyone interested in her would certainly tell a lot. Polly is on a good-girl diet, since she weighs about 70 pounds and should weigh about 50 pounds. That weight loss should be easy to accomplish with the right diet and exercise; her original adopters were elderly and probably unable to exercise her enough. Polly is a very cute little girl who will bring lots of love to the forever home she goes to. CONTACT INFORMATION: To meet Polly, or for more information, please contact Wendy at 480-980-8718, or wendylocher@cox.net. Thank you!

  • Boxer, Pit Bull Terrier

The puppy with the crazy radar ears is Quade. Quade has a birthdate of June 23, 2018. He is a 36-pound Boxer and Pit Bull mix, but he is still growing into his body, as you can see by his ears that appear to have a mind of their own. Quade does not appear to understand the function of a leash; he is either nervous about the intentions of the leash or he assumes it is used for a game of tug. But he is a smart boy and will catch on quickly to the fact that leashes are for walking. Quade must have had someone in his past who taught him basic obedience. He has shown that he understands sit, shake, and down. Quade came to Home Fur Good from the county shelter. While at county, he was introduced to a doggie playgroup where he did have good social interactions. Home Fur Good has not yet introduced him to other dogs. If you are interested in adopting and already have a dog, a meet-and-greet will be required. The adoption fee is $300 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

He kept a nervous body posture, greeted other dogs nervously, and primarily kept to himself. Ridley was at the county shelter for over a month and he became close with several volunteers. He loves attention and will come when called. Ridley knows the cue to sit and takes treats gently. He is easy to take from his kennel and walks well on the leash and he is non-reactive when passing other dogs. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Two-year-old Rocket has come back to Home Fur Good. He has spent some quality time in a home environment to give him a break from shelter life. He is a 46-pound Pit Bull mix who has never met a two-legged stranger. While on his shelter break, Rocket was given the freedom to remain loose in his home. If left alone too long, Rocket would find ways to entertain himself, which could mean destroying something that was not his. Rocket was on his best behavior if he could burn energy on one activity per day. He enjoys playing fetch, running, going on long walks, and hiking. He likes to play a good game of tug-o-war, and squeaking on stuffed toys. Rocket has also worked on his obedience skills; he knows the cues for sit, down, off, stay, come, heel, and shake, and he can even jump through hoops. He has proven he is handsome and smart. Rocket may get excited at the first sighting of a cat, but then he loses interest. He would do best as the only dog, so he can soak up all the cuddles during couch time. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

An older dog with a loving heart, Rocko gets along with other dogs, loves kids, and enjoys going for walks. He is equally happy playing at the dog park or just relaxing on the couch. Rocko does not do well on long or strenuous hikes; he gets winded easily and has weak knees. These two issues make it difficult to take him everywhere we go. He is good when left at home and is not a destructive dog. He does struggle with lapping water so he makes a bit of a mess, and he needs to have his food soaked in water to eat. Rocko is in good general health and he is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. This boy needs a hero. He needs a person or family willing to help a loving and lovable dog find his new forever. He will reward you with endless love and gratitude. CONTACT INFORMATION: To meet Rocko, or for more information, please contact Mark at 602-478-4173 or mtqcook87@gmail.com. Thank you!

Shadow just turned one year old and she is a very active and energetic puppy. She is a 45-pound American Bulldog mix. Shadow is an owner surrender, because they did not have the time to work with a puppy with an inquisitive mind. She is housebroken; she may not have accidents in the home, but if left alone for too long, she will become destructive because she needs to be exercised both physically and mentally. Shadow has participated in the Run Buddy Mobile exercise gym that comes to the shelter on Saturdays. Shadow enthusiastically gave it a try and she reacted favorably to the mental stimulation of understanding how it worked and jogged along greedily once she figured it out.
