Seven-year-old Artie snuck his way into Home Fur Good. HFG rescued a dog named Webster from county and county said he had a Chihuahua mix buddy. Due to a little miscommunication, Artie snuck into our van, posing as that buddy. A few days later, county realized the situation and called HFG to tell us that the real Webster buddy, Hector, was still at county. Whoops. HFG won in that mix-up, getting to enjoy 10-pound Artie until he wags his way into the car that will take him to his forever home. The adoption fee is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm, and Mondays by appointment, and we are located at 10220 N. 32nd Street (just south of Shea Blvd.) in Phoenix. Out-of-state adoptions to surrounding states are possible; however, an in-person introduction with us and our dogs is mandatory. We offer a low-cost vaccine clinic on Sundays from 11:00 am-2:30 pm, and a low-cost dental clinic on Wednesdays by appointment. Visit our website at www.homefurgood.org for more information.

Home Fur Good took in Chalupa from the county shelter. She was born on January 8, 2018, and at just seven weeks old she was bitten by a larger dog on her itty-bitty noggin. Chalupa went directly into foster care to recover. Initially, she had open wounds and she spun in circles. She is a six-pound Chihuahua mix with a puppy drive to play, and nothing was going to keep her sidelined for long. Her little bean may be a bit misproportioned, but she is a happy, curious puppy now. Chalupa is crate trained. That means she has been left for up to eight hours in her crate with zero accidents. She is working on being house trained. If you watch her, she will wander to the door and start to spin in a circle; that is Chalupa saying she had better be taken outside. She loves to play with her 30-pound foster brother, but she does not care to interact with the 60-pound Golden Retriever that lives next door. Chalupa has slowly learned to give the cat some space, and once she figured out what to do on a walk, she became a big fan of walking the neighborhood. The adoption fee is $300 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm, and Mondays by appointment, and we are located at 10220 N. 32nd Street (just south of Shea Blvd.) in Phoenix. Home Fur Good found Charlie at the county shelter in March 2017. He was a sad sack suffering from skin allergies. He was itchy, raw and even had open wounds. Charlie is on a special prescription diet and has grain-free treats, which have helped him immensely. He has a great attitude and craves being a member of the family. Charlie loves to be in the mix; he is no wallflower. He is a four-year-old Pit Bull mix weighing 60 pounds. He is very strong physically and determined mentally. When Charlie wants to do something, he is going to do it. He will do best with an owner with an even stronger will, who will be consistent and firm. Charlie cannot be allowed to rule the roost; he needs structure. He is a solid low-rider who does not know that he could bowl you over. He adores kids, but he does not always keep to his personal space and so he needs to be around older kids or kids who will not mind getting knocked off their feet a time or two. Charlie is low-maintenance when it comes to activity. A brisk walk or short burst of play will keep him happy. If you sit down, by the time you blink his head will be in your lap. Charlie would do best as an only dog; he does have a few quirks with sharing. He is looking for a forever home, but we are currently accepting applications to foster Charlie. He needs a break from the hustle and bustle of shelter life. A foster home would also provide excellent insight to his temperament in a home environment. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm, and Mondays by appointment, and we are located at 10220 N. 32nd Street (just south of Shea Blvd.) in Phoenix. Four-year-old Chloe came to Home Fur Good via a partnership with Humane Animal Rescue and Trapping Team (HARTT). She is a 69-pound Coonhound mix with the sweetest disposition. Hound dogs normally have quite a bit to say, but Miss Chloe seems to prefer to listen; at least so far she has not voiced many opinions. Chloe is very friendly and walks on the leash like a lady. The adoption fee for Chloe is $300, which is higher than it would be under our normal fee schedule. That is because Chloe is one of our Guardian Angel dogs. Guardian Angel dogs are highly desirable adoptees, and their increased fees are used expressly to help defray costs for our rescues with special needs such as advanced medical treatment or training for behavioral issues, or for those who are with us for unusually long periods of time. In this way the Guardian Angels directly help our other rescues! All adoption fees include spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm, and Mondays by appointment, and we are located at 10220 N. 32nd Street (just south of Shea Blvd.) in Phoenix. Two-year-old Donovan is busy making friends of all the staff and volunteers at Home Fur Good. He is a 59-pound Shepherd mix. He appears to have some tricks up his sleeve: he does know the cues for sit and down. Donovan acts like he wants to play fetch, but he appears to enjoy being chased much more than retrieving. Donovan will need to be the only dog in his new home; he will give you all the loyalty and doggie kisses you could want. Fozzie B was turned in to the county shelter as a stray. He is a two-year-old Cairn Terrier mix weighing in at 19 pounds. Fozzie B is one of those dogs that make you wish he could tell you his backstory. He has such a cute little face that you want to scoop him up, give him a squeeze, and tell him it will all be ok. However, Fozzie B is not prepared for all that interaction just yet. He is taking his time adjusting to shelter life, and that is just fine. Fozzie B can take all the time he wants, and when he is ready his forever home will appear. For now, polite conversation and treats, lots of treats, will win you a tail wag. Gusto is a five-year-old, 56-pound Shar-Pei mix who was taken to the county shelter as a stray back in December. Gusto has a calm play style and would do best with other calm dogs. He is treat-motivated and he takes them gently. Gusto enjoys attention but he does not demand it. Talk about Hulkamania, Hogan took his beefing up to a whole new level. His family was moving, and they turned this gentle giant in at the county shelter. County immediately recognized that a nine-year-old dog can be hard to adopt out, but when that older dog is also an obese dog, weighing 125 pounds, that dog will find himself on the euthanasia list. County used social media to put out a plea to help Hogan. Home Fur Good stepped in and rescued him, and then went straight to work on getting him a diet plan and testing for any health issues that may have caused his weight gain. His owners stated that they left Hogan outside both day and night, but that he is housebroken. They stated that Hogan likes adults, children, and other dogs. Hogan is looking for a home where he can be a member of the family, a family committed to making him a healthy dog. In return, he will definitely turn them into Hulkamaniacs! Two-year-old Javier came to Home Fur Good from MCACC West, the animal shelter of Maricopa County. Javier is a 19-pound Pembroke Welsh Corgi mix. If you would like to win over Javier, all you need to do is pull out a squeaky toy. Squeak a toy and he transforms from a shy wallflower into a bounding, pouncing, and playful little boy. He shared a kennel at county, and while he is new to Home Fur Good, indications are that he will fit right into the Small-Dog Playgroup. County notes state that he was timid and skittish on impound, but that he allowed handling. They recommend older children in his new home. Javier is wary of a leash, but he allows himself to be picked up; just move slowly and let him see your actions. He just takes a visit or two to be your best buddy. I got to meet Javier in his kennel at county and he allowed me to pick him up. On his second day at HFG he allowed me to carry him out to the yards and he showed me how much fun squeaky toys are. By my third visit, Javier was ready to leap out of his kennel and into my arms; he is a love bug when given a chance. Jimme seems to take all changes in stride. He patiently waits his turn for attention, and when it is his turn, he enjoys every moment. County notes indicate that Jimme was nervous in the play yard with other dogs, and that he preferred the company of the handler. Jimme was an instant new favorite of the staff at HFG. Three-year-old Riley came to Home Fur Good from MCACC West, the animal shelter of Maricopa County. Riley is a 48-pound Boxer and Pit Bull mix. County said that she was friendly with people on intake. When she was introduced to a playgroup at county, she kept close to the yard gate and appeared nervous around other dogs. Riley appears to be under-socialized with other dogs, but she managed to coexist without any issue. Riley has never hesitated in the transition from county to HFG. She is ready to meet new people, play new games and take on the world.

Rocket is a projectile doggie ready to fly into his new home. He was found as a stray and taken to the county shelter. Rocket is a one-year-old Pit Bull mix weighing 46 pounds. He is an energetic puppy looking to burn that energy with walks, hikes, jogs, and Obedience School. Working the mind of a dog can actually tire him out much faster than a walk; learning is not easy. On second thought, Rocket might enjoy agility training: exercising his mind at the same time as his legs. Sherman is short and stocky and built for a front-line ambush, an ambush of kisses. He knows he is absolutely irresistible and he wants to be front and center to flash his smile and hear all the ooohs and aaaahs from the ladies. Sherman was found roaming the streets looking for a crowd of admirers. Home Fur Good could not turn him away, and has given him a place to stay while he searches for his forever home. He is an eight-year-old Pit Bull mix weighing 49 pounds. It turns out that Sherman is blind, but you just need to talk to him and touch him gently and this doggie with the tough-guy exterior will turn to mush. One-year-old Sonora was taken to the county shelter as a stray. She is a 55-pound Husky mix. County notes that Sonora was friendly upon impound, allowing herself to be vaccinated and handled. She was fearful in her kennel but once she was on a leash, Sonora walked well and showed a desire to be social. County said that Sonora greeted dogs appropriately, but she kept to herself unless joined by very playful dogs. While at Home Fur Good, Sonora has been willing to let strangers come and take her out, and she is instantly friendly and playful. Come on down and meet Sonora; just be careful not to be stunned by her beauty. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Stacey is looking for her happy ending. Stacey was found left and tied to a tree, so she was taken to the county shelter. She is an Australian Cattle Dog mix with a birthdate of August 8, 2016, and she weighs 40 pounds. Stacey is timid and wary of strangers; she does not act out and she allows herself to be leashed, but she will break your heart when you look in her eyes. That is, until you take her into a yard with puppies. No one can resist the healing power of playful puppies, not even Stacey. Stacey blossoms and she immediately begins to frolic. You can see her inner dog just bursting to play. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Ten-year-old Viola was taken to the county shelter as a stray. She is an 11-pound Long Coat Chihuahua mix with a curly tail. County put in their notes that Viola was calm on intake and that she readily allowed vaccinations. Viola has settled in quickly at Home Fur Good. She willingly allows anyone to reach in and take her out of her kennel. Yes, you could allow Viola to walk out of her kennel on her own, but she is so dang cute it is hard to keep your hands off her. Viola is very curious; she loves to explore and see what she can find. She has a heart murmur and is on medication for it, but it does not keep her from enjoying life and being the sweetest dog. The adoption fee is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet.
