 . AMIR .

  • Cattle Dog, Mixed Breed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Two-year-old Amir was an owner surrender to the county shelter. He is a 52-pound Cattle Dog mix. County noted that Amir was calm during impound and after his owner left. His owner kept Amir outside both day and night. He was turned in because the owners did not have time for him and neighbors were complaining of barking; well, duh -- he is a social dog in need of attention. His owner stated that he is leash-trained and knows basic obedience. His owner also said that he loves children but will bark at strangers. Amir can be a bit vocal, but he is shouting: hey, over here, come over here and love on me. Amir is a member of a doggie playgroup at Home Fur Good and he also lived with a larger dog in his original home. Home Fur Good has weekly visits from Run Buddy Mobile, a dog-powered exercise gym. It took a few visits for Amir to fully understand how it all worked, but now he hops right on and he trots along beautifully. Amir has participated in a few Home Fur Good holiday photoshoots, at which he was torn between wondering what all the activity was about and wanting badly to interact with the volunteers. Amir wants to please you and he wants your affection; it will not take him long to settle in to the family that chooses him. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

  • Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Mixed Breed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Ariana is a two-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix and she weighs 34 pounds. She is a beautiful brindle girl with golden eyes. You will be lured in by her pleasing looks and then Ariana will start speaking, trying to run you off. You see, this little girl was on the euthanasia list at county due to her fear. Dogs will rarely get over fearfulness on their own; they require assistance from a caring, experienced owner. Ariana can overcome her fear with repetition and consistency. These are things that require time and patience. Ariana is a member of a dog playgroup at Home Fur Good and may do well with a canine role model. Dogs gain self-confidence with obedience skills. With that self-confidence comes the ability to overcome fear. The underlying theme with Ariana is that she needs a home with people willing to spend time on training and who have the patience to work at her pace, and one that is full of love so she can gain confidence and trust. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

  • Cairn Terrier
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Bing will be turning two years old in March 2019. He is a scruffy eight-pound Cairn Terrier mix with expressive radar ears. Bing is happiest when he is romping around in his small-dog playgroup. He loves to run and play chase with his four-legged buddies. Alas, while Bing is great with other dogs, he needs to be adopted by a human, and he does not have immediate trust for new people. He likes to take his time, feel you out, maybe see you more than once, and then you can be his best friend. His antics are almost comical. A new person might be at his kennel door and Bing is being slightly defensive, but then he will recognize someone in the background and his ears go up and his tail starts to wag, and he is ready to come right out. Bing needs an experienced owner who can earn his trust while teaching him his boundaries. Bing is territorial with his kennel and acts like a very different dog when out in a play yard. He enjoys belly rubs, and he will flip over almost immediately when approached outside of his kennel. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

Dainty and gentle is how Bristol should be described. She is a seven-year-old Border Terrier and Chihuahua mix weighing a plump 11 pounds. She is a feminine doggie, with the cutest little prance. Bristol was taken to the county shelter as a stray and Home Fur Good was drawn in by her soulful and tender eyes. She is a polite girl who allows herself to be picked up by anyone, because she knows it is wonderful to be snuggled and held. A hug with Bristol will bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart. The adoption fee is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. • Beagle
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Chance and Face are bonded siblings who will be turning eight years old in April 2019. They are Beagle mixes weighing 70 pounds and 53 pounds, respectively, who were adopted out of Home Fur Good back in 2011 as puppies. Chance and Face were well-loved and very spoiled, and it was with heavy hearts that their family had to return them. They need to remain together. They both are crate-trained and housebroken; Face will even go into the crate on her own for naps. Chance and Face enjoy the dog park, where Face will growl at other dogs until she gets to sniff them. They are also smarty pants, knowing sit, wait, back (stepping backward) up (to get into the car) and okay (when they can proceed to eat.) They are sweet, snuggly dogs in need of a home full of love. Chance and Face have a fun and playful energy about them. They will entertain themselves, each other, and you with their joy and enthusiasm for life. They are well-behaved and respectful of each other. They do have bursts of energy when taken out into a yard, but then they are ready to be loved on and snuggled. Chance is a bit more of a lap dog, while Face has a bit more play in her. The total adoption fee is $250 for both together and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

Chaz is an eight-year-old Australian Shepherd and Cattle Dog mix weighing in at 42 pounds. He was turned in at the county shelter as a stray. When Chaz was turned in, he was friendly with staff and allowed all handling. He acted stoic in his kennel but allowed himself to be leashed and removed, and then he walked well on the leash. County did introduce Chaz to a doggie playgroup. He was initially defensive when other dogs rushed up, but he quickly softened. Chaz had good social interactions with the other dogs and remained calm and friendly. The adoption fee is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. The cinnamon-spotted girl trotting around checking out the world is Cinnie. She is a five-year-old, 31-pound Australian Cattle Dog and Catahoula mix that Home Fur Good discovered at the county shelter, where she had been taken as a stray. Cinnie may have lived a sheltered life prior to arriving. She sits in her kennel and watches all the activity. She is calm and quiet, but wide-eyed, watching and learning. Cinnie is just slightly shy when her kennel is opened, but she allows anyone to attach a leash and she will politely follow her handler, ready to see and experience what will come next. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. • Pit Bull Terrier
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Clarise is a Pit Bull mix who will be turning two years old in February 2019. She is a beautiful, athletic girl weighing 51 pounds. Clarise was turned in at the county shelter. She had ringworm, which is 100 percent treatable, but it is very contagious and makes a dog eligible for euthanasia. PACC911 put out a plea to find Clarise a rescue. Home Fur Good took her in and made sure she was completely healthy. Clarise has a very bubbly personality and she loves to meet new people to give out her doggie hugs and kisses. One volunteer described her as a Big Love-Muffin looking to make friends with everyone. She is a little more discriminating when it comes to picking her canine friends, so a meet-and-greet is necessary if she will be in a home with other dogs. Clarise is also very smart and she quickly learned the cues for sit and down and she is capable of learning so much more. Home Fur Good has weekly visits from Run Buddy Mobile, a dog-powered exercise gym. It did not take Clarise long to understand how her treadmill works and she jogs along proudly.

Fozzie B will turn three years old in March 2019, right about the time he passes his one-year anniversary mark at Home Fur Good. He is a 19-pound Cairn Terrier mix with an independent nature, but that just might be the very definition of a terrier. When Fozzie B arrived at HFG, he attached himself to his favorite person. He decided he was only going to show his loving side to her and everyone else would be warned off. HFG provided one-on-one training sessions for Fozzie, to work on his selectiveness. He worked with a trainer twice a week. The trainer not only worked with Fozzie, but also with staff and volunteers to show everyone how to positively train Fozzie to allow strangers into his life. Fozzie has really opened up and has become more accepting of others. He loves to receive belly rubs and to give out kisses. He will lay on his back for endless belly rubs. Fozzie is also a great fetcher, although sometimes you need to convince him to give up the ball when he returns it. He has also spent time in a foster home where he exhibited behavior of being fully housebroken; he will use the doggy door. There are other dogs in his foster home, and he gets along with all of them. Fozzie is probably not a good fit with children, but if you have the time and patience to develop an unbreakable bond, please take a moment to meet Fozzie B, and then maybe meet him another time and maybe another, until he is ready to be your best friend. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

The goofy and kooky hound dog plodding around at Home Fur Good is named Kanye. He is a 51-pound, three-year-old Black-Mouth Cur mix. Kanye was previously adopted out of HFG into a very loving home. He was taken to obedience classes and learned the basic commands. Kanye does a very nice sit when a yummy treat is offered up. He was allowed to roam free in his home day and night, and he is housebroken. His family stated that Kanye spent his nights in the warmest bed in the house; he was much loved. He has shown signs of being territorial in his home; he is not a huge fan of strangers coming in and he has shown resource-guarding of his treats. Kanye would do best in a home with no small children. Kanye has settled back into the routine at the shelter and he is easily taken in and out of his kennel by all the new people that he meets. If you are an experienced dog owner and are looking for a daffy doggie to make you laugh, you should meet Kanye. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Kiah is a four-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix and she weighs 71 pounds. She was taken as a stray to the Yuma Humane Society, where she spent some time in foster care. Her foster noted that Kiah is crate-trained and would need a job to do in order to be happy. Her foster feels that Kiah is not a good fit for a first-time adopter because of her timid behavior. Kiah enjoys the company of humans over other dogs, and she will herd her people. She has shown that she is a door-dasher, so care will be needed when going in and out of her new home. During her stay at the county shelter, she was introduced to a doggie playgroup. Kiah was tolerant of other dogs but mostly kept to herself or sought affection from the yard lead. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

  • Old English Sheepdog
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Six-year-old Kobuk is ruggedly handsome with an aloof independent side. He has been with Home Fur Good for a year, plenty of time for him to become a favorite of those who have entered his circle of trust. Kobuk does not instantly like everyone he meets. He needs to trust and respect that you are looking out for his best interest before he warms up. Kobuk will thrive in an environment that provides structure and repetition. Respect goes both ways. Kobuk will respect you by following your instruction, and in return you respect Kobuk by teaching him your expectations and providing him with boundaries. Kobuk may sound like a bit of a curmudgeon, but in reality, he is very playful. He plays fetch, goes goofy-silly for squeaky toys, and he will lean on you for love and affection. The shelter is a stressful environment, and after a lengthy stay a dog will not always show his most attractive quirks. Kobuk is looking for a hero who will give him time and patience. Kobuk will need time to shake off his past life, and time to learn what the future holds. He has been a member of doggie play groups at HFG, so if you already have a dog, Kobuk might just be their new best friend. As for statistics, Kobuk is listed as an English Sheepdog mix weighing in at 68 pounds. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

It does not take long to realize her prior life was not filled with pampering. She is a petite 35 pounds, and now that she receives regular, healthy meals she will blossom to a healthy weight. Lana wants your affection, but she is not in your face about it. However, if you do start to love on her, she will soak it up for all it is worth. Lana is working on her muscle tone and strength. With quality, frequent walks and playtime, she will be romping around. Lana wears some scars from her life before, but she is only looking ahead, and her future needs to be one where she is treated like the beautiful princess she is. Luca is a two-year-old long-coat Chihuahua mix weighing in at a chunky-monkey 24 pounds. He knows he is an irresistibly foxy boy, and his sweet puppy face will make you want to reward him with treats just for being so dang cute. Luca will use his looks and charms to get away with whatever he can, just like any typical teenager. He needs an experienced owner who will give him boundaries and structure. He will learn that he is not the one in authority and that by following consistent guidelines set by his owner he can reap the rewards of love and affection. Luca is a smart boy that does want to please. He knows the cue to sit, plays fetch, and enjoys romping with his doggie friends. Luca has had a long stay at Home Fur Good, long enough to become a favorite and for volunteers to take him home on mini shelter-breaks. Luca has done well while in foster. He does want lots and lots of attention, and it does need to be mentioned that he loves attention. A home with other dogs may not work if the other dogs need affection as much as Luca. Luca loves being taken out on walks and he will strut about town. Home Fur Good has weekly visits from Run Buddy Mobile, a dog-powered exercise gym. Luca is an expert on the doggie treadmill; he trots along with a huge smile on his face. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Maddox is a two-year-old Black-Mouth Cur mix and he weighs 43 pounds. A Black-Mouth Cur is bred to be a hard-working hunting dog. Maddox is an energetic boy who would love an active family ready to treat him to adventures. And by adventure, he means he would love one long run or walk a day to keep himself fulfilled and occupied. Maddox has proved that he has the ability to climb and jump the fenced-in yards at Home Fur Good. He should not be left unattended outside. His climbing skills have made it a requirement that he be walked twice a day at the shelter. On the plus side, Maddox is pretty great on a leash; he strolls along and is more interested in smelling every bush than running marathons. Home Fur Good has weekly visits from Run Buddy Mobile, a dog-powered exercise gym. Maddox quickly learned how, and he enjoys the stimulation of working and focusing on his treadmill. He is dog-selective and a meet-and-greet would be required for any potential dog siblings. Maddox came to Home Fur Good via a partnership with Pet Allies of Show Low, Arizona. Pet Allies was created in 2012 to help the city of Show Low operate their animal control shelter, and has helped them go from a 90% euthanasia rate to a 96% save rate. One of their techniques is to reach out to other rescues for assistance when the shelter hits capacity. Home Fur Good was able to assist by taking in eight of their dogs. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

The Aussie is an athletic dog with the ability to work all day without sacrificing speed or agility. Just her genetics alone puts Rey in a category for an active family that is willing to take her on adventures. Rey is what is commonly known as a Double Merle, a dog with two copies of the merle gene. Double Merle dogs may have a variety of eye defects and hearing deficiencies. HFG had to remove her right eye, and she is adjusting and working on depth perception with her remaining beautiful blue eye. Rey is also hearing impaired; we are not sure how much she is able to hear. Now, Rey needs an active and patient family willing to take the extra time needed to teach her their expectations. She is intelligent and eager to please. She will sit right next to you and watch your face and body movements for clues on what you are asking. Dedicated volunteers have provided personalized training for Rey. You can see the pride on her face when she understands the training. Home Fur Good has weekly visits from Run Buddy Mobile, a dog-powered exercise gym. Rey is an expert on the doggie treadmill; she cruises along with a huge smile on her face. When Rey finds her forever home, she will come with support from HFG. We are committed to her future and want her to succeed in that home; if training, advice, or guidance is needed, HFG will assist. After all the training, when it is time to wind down for the day, Rey will be very affectionate, she enjoys snuggle and relax time. Spencer is the perfect pup for you if you have time to train him, energy to play with him, and a great sense of humor. Spencer is a one-year-old, 37-pound Australian Cattle Dog mix. He came to Home Fur Good from the county shelter. Spencer has not known consistency in his life so far. He is an intelligent boy who will thrive with training. Spencer needs a family with the time and patience to show him what is expected of him. He is outgoing and willing to run off on an adventure with anyone who will open his kennel. Spencer is very curious and he will stick his nose in everywhere. Once he knows a little structure, and he is given ample time to burn off puppy energy, he becomes a snuggle bug, but not until he has exercised his mind and body first. Spencer is dog-selective and may be happiest in a home where he can be the only dog. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.
