  • Cattle Dog, Mixed Breed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Two-year-old Amir was an owner surrender to the county shelter. He is a 52-pound Cattle Dog mix. County noted that Amir was calm during impound and after his owner left. Amir allowed the staff to vaccinate him and he was friendly with his handler. Amir was introduced to a doggie play group while at county, where he mostly kept to himself and was tolerant of the other dogs around him. His owner kept him outside both day and night. He was turned in because the owners did not have time for him and neighbors were complaining of barking. His owner stated that he is leash-trained and knows basic obedience. His owner also said that he loves children, but will bark at strangers. Amir shared his home with a larger dog. Home Fur Good has seen that Amir does feed off of the energy of dogs around him. Once Amir is out of his kennel and in a yard, he engages and enjoys attention from staff and volunteers. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

  • Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Mixed Breed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Two-year-old Ariana was on the euthanasia list at the county shelter due to fear. She is a 34-pound Staffordshire Terrier mix. Ariana is not leash-trained. She allows the leash to be put on, but does not understand or is fearful to follow a handler and will pancake to the floor or attempt to flee. While at county, Ariana initially needed to be carried outside or would follow her kennel mate while on the leash. County also had Ariana in a doggie play group, where they noted she was tolerant of others but remained fearful and appeared under-socialized. At county, she did become a project dog and was moved into one of the offices to help with socialization. Ariana allowed petting by everyone who came into the office, but she remained curled up on her bed and did not seek out the attention. The coaxing required to get Ariana to walk on a leash did decrease during her stay at county. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

Bing is a male Cairn Terrier mix who was taken to the county as a stray. He is a scruffy, eight-pound two-year-old with expressive radar ears. Bing does not have immediate trust for new people. He likes to take his time, feel you out, maybe see you more than once, and then you can be his best friend. His antics are almost comical. A new person might be at his kennel door and Bing is being slightly defensive, and then he will recognize someone in the background, his ears will go up and his tail will start to wag and he is ready to come right out. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Chance and Face are seven-year-old siblings. They are Beagle mixes weighing 70 pounds and 53 pounds, respectively, who were adopted out of Home Fur Good back in 2011 as puppies. Chance and Face were well loved and very spoiled, and it was with heavy hearts that their family had to return them. They need to remain together. They both are crate-trained and housebroken; Face will even go into the crate on her own for naps. Chance and Face enjoy the dog park, where Face will growl at other dogs until she gets to sniff them. They are also smarty pants, knowing sit, wait, back (stepping backward) up (to get into the car) and okay (when they can proceed to eat.) They are sweet, snuggly dogs in need of a home full of love. The total adoption fee is $250 for both together and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

Clarence makes new people his leaning post, and he just wants to lay his head in your lap to snuggle and maintain contact. The adoption fee is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. • Staffordshire Bull Terrier, English Bulldog
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Two-year-old Eloise came to Home Fur Good from the county shelter. She is a 37-pound English Bulldog and Staffordshire Terrier mix, leaving her with the most adorable underbite. County noted that Eloise was friendly at impound and allowed herself to be vaccinated and walked well on a leash. County did introduce Eloise to a doggie playgroup, where she was stiff with dog greetings, but tolerant. Eloise stayed close to the yard attendant and actively sought out human attention. Eloise was turned in at county as a stray, and county noted she was underweight with a good appetite. The person who turned her in stated that she was housebroken and rode well in the car. They also said that she loved adults and strangers. Eloise was then adopted from county, but her adopters only kept her for one day. Her adopters said that Eloise challenged and acted dominant toward the dogs already in the home. Eloise has enjoyed attention from adults from the start of her stay at HFG. She loves to be close and hopefully get a belly rub. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. • Cairn Terrier
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Two-year-old Fozzie B has been with Home Fur Good since March. He is a 19-pound Cairn Terrier mix with an independent nature. When Fozzie B arrived, he attached himself to his favorite person. He decided he was only going to show his loving side to her and everyone else would be warned off. Although it can be a great ego boost to know you are his chosen one, this does not do well on adoptability. HFG is determined to help Fozzie B find his forever home. Fozzie B is having personalized training sessions twice a week with a professional trainer. Also, volunteers and staff who have fallen under his spell are working with him to increase the number of people allowed into his circle of trust. He has been staying in a foster home on the days the shelter is closed. In the home environment he loves to snuggle, be a member of the dog pack in the home, and he is doing very well at becoming housebroken. Fozzie B would require a home with no small children, but other dogs would most likely work. If you have the time and patience to develop an unbreakable bond, please take a moment to meet Fozzie B, and then maybe meet him another time, and maybe another, until he is ready to be your best friend. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

Three-year-old Jojo was turned in as a stray to the county shelter. She is a 34-pound Shepherd mix who carries herself in a dainty, prancing manner. While at county, Jojo was introduced to other dogs. She greeted them nervously and sought protection with her handler. Jojo was tolerant of the other dogs but remained timid. For now, Jojo prefers a one-on-one scenario where she can cuddle up close and get all the love and petting. She is receptive to being led out of her kennel by anyone, and she immediately wants to sit really close and soak up the comfort of touch. Jojo would love to sit with you on the couch and binge-watch your favorite shows. Kobuk is listed as an English Sheepdog mix weighing in at 68 pounds. Kobuk is people-selective; however, once you enter his circle of trust, he will be the bestest friend you could ever have. He likes to lean on his people for their attention and affection. He loves toys, especially those he steals away from other dogs. Kobuk has a very playful side, but with the stress and activity of the shelter he does not let his guard down often enough to show it to everyone. Kobuk is and has been a member of various dog playgroups during his stay. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Luca has a birthdate of July 15, 2016. He is a long-coat Chihuahua mix weighing in at a chunky-monkey 24 pounds. He knows he is an irresistibly foxy boy, and his sweet puppy face will make you want to reward him with treats just for being so dang cute. Luca does know the cue to sit, and he appears to know how to play fetch, but he has a very short attention span. He enjoys playing with other small dogs at HFG and he happily meets new people. On paper and upon meeting Luca in the shelter, he comes across as a congenial, well-adjusted little fluff ball. If so, then why is it that Luca was adopted out of the county shelter and returned, and then adopted twice out of Home Fur Good and returned? Luca is a work in progress as HFG tries to determine what makes him tick. His adopters stated that after an extended stay in what should be his forever loving home, Luca will flip a switch and he will nip at his owner. He does not show these traits in the shelter situation, but after several failed adoptions, the trait cannot be denied. Luca will not be the dog for everyone but surely there is a savvy dog owner out there willing to take on a challenge like Luca. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

Mateo is a shy and sensitive boy, who has shown zero aggression. His inclination is to escape any scenario that makes him nervous. Mateo will gently leave his kennel, and he will try to shrink into his surroundings while he learns to trust you. Talking softly, moving slowly and having yummy treats will go a long way to making Mateo a devoted friend. Although the true story is unknown, it is possible that Pride is Mom and Joy is her daughter. Joy is the younger one even though she is a bit bigger at 11 pounds, while Pride weighs in at eight pounds. One-year-old Rocket has been with Home Fur Good since February. For a young dog to spend many hours in a kennel is a lot to ask, and Rocket is doing his best. He is a 46-pound Pit Bull mix and when it is his turn to play in the yards, he will make the most of it. Running, splashing in the kiddie pool, tossing up toys or chasing away birds, Rocket will do it all to make sure he burns puppy energy. After all of the energy is out, he can focus on who is in the yard with him. Then he will flash his great smile and dole out his prized kisses. Rocket has not found any dog buddies at Home Fur Good, but that does not mean it is not worth a try. He loves people and he is great on a leash; he just needs an outlet to burn energy and then he will let his sweet personality take over. An older dog with a loving heart, Rocko gets along with other dogs, loves kids, and enjoys going for walks. He is equally happy playing at the dog park or just relaxing on the couch. Rocko does not do well on long or strenuous hikes; he gets winded easily and has weak knees. These two issues make it difficult to take him everywhere we go. He is good when left at home and is not a destructive dog. He does struggle with lapping water so he makes a bit of a mess, and he needs to have his food soaked in water to eat. Rocko is in good general health and he is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. This boy needs a hero. He needs a person or family willing to help a loving and lovable dog find his new forever. Grey Muzzle Organization is helping Sherman find a forever home. Grey Muzzle Organization envisions a world where no old dog dies alone and afraid. They provide grants to rescue organizations to improve the lives of senior dogs. The grants provide a means for Home Fur Good to make sure older dogs are loved and cared for in a home by alleviating some of the anxiety that adopters feel about the cost of an older pet or about making certain medical decisions. HFG has made Sherman eligible to be a Long-Term Foster. By opening your heart and home to this senior rescue, you agree to provide him with a healthy, stable, loving, and safe environment. You agree to provide food, water, shelter, exercise, and grooming. In return HFG will be the decision-maker regarding his medical needs and care and retains responsibility for his wellbeing. You can meet Sherman at the shelter Thursdays through Saturdays from 11am - 4pm or call for more information at (602) 971-1334.

Seven-year-old Shy is a new arrival from the county shelter. Shy is a 46-pound Australian Cattle Dog mix. She was at risk of being placed on the euthanasia list. A plea was sent out to local rescues to come to her aid, and Home Fur Good stepped in. Shy had been adopted and returned to county three separate times. Still, she has good notes from her previous owners and her foster. Notes state that she has done great with kids, cats, and dogs, and with a human in a wheelchair. Since all not all personalities mesh, a meet and greet with any potential dog siblings will be required. Her risk of euthanasia came from chronic ear infections. Home Fur Good is working on medication for those infections and taking care of a hematoma in her right ear, and some dental work. Shy has shown that when left alone outside, she will become destructive and hunt for a way to escape. She needs a home where she will always be considered an important household member and will be involved in day-to-day activities. Shy is still settling in at Home Fur Good; she enjoys quiet time when she can sit with a volunteer and receive some love and petting. The adoption fee is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Stacey turned two years old on August 8th. She is a 40-pound Australian Cattle Dog mix. Stacey is wary of strangers, but what little is known of her history may explain her timidity. She was found tied to a tree before being rescued and taken to the county shelter, where Home Fur Good fell in love with her. Since arriving in February, Stacey has made progress. She comes to the front of her kennel to greet staff and volunteers whom she knows and trusts. Getting Stacey out of her kennel is still a bit of a project; however, once she is out she will crawl into the laps of her favorite people. She is dog-selective, but she has been and is currently a member of dog playgroups. She enjoyed the company of rambunctious puppies and currently enjoys comforting another shy dog. Stacey has shown indications that in a home setting she may prefer to be an only dog. Stacey is very shy, requiring reassurance to gain confidence, but you can tell she enjoys being held or sitting close to her trusted people. There is a very loving girl under all the hesitation. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Tammie is a puppy with a birthdate of February 16, 2018. She is an eight-pound Chihuahua mix. A good samaritan decided to help Tammie get off the streets. Her savior said that she was fractious, and bit several times without breaking the skin. Tammie was then turned in at the county shelter. County stated that they were able to pick her up and carry her with bite gloves on. County said that Tammie was nervous, but she allowed handling and vaccinations and was carried to a kennel. Tammie did test positive for Demodex mange. Phoenix Animal Care Coalition, PACC911, put out a plea to local shelters to rescue Tammie. Home Fur Good took her in, and she almost immediately went into foster care. Tammie was treated for her mange with love and meds. She prefers calm and quiet, and she will seek out a warm lap to crawl into. She gets along with the other two dogs in the home, with one being smaller and one being 20 pounds heavier. Tammie may bark when the house cat walks by, but she leaves her alone. Tammie will sniff and lick at fingers and then she will bury her little nose in your hand. You need to move slowly, and pick her up from underneath for a snuggle. The adoption fee is $300 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

Ten-year-old Vance came to Home Fur Good from the county shelter. Vance is a 14-pound Chihuahua mix. County shared that Vance has always been friendly with staff and has never had a problem with being handled. Vance is very agreeable and goes with the flow. He is an older gentleman, but he has the looks of a puppy and a heart of gold. The adoption fee is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.
