There is a Facebook page titled Maricopa Adoptable Shelter Dogs. It is run by a group of dedicated county shelter volunteers. They posted about a senior dog in need of a forever home. Home Fur Good answered their plea. Ace is 11 years old; he is a Boxer and Pit Bull mix and he weighs 59 pounds. Ace is no stranger to shelter life. He has found himself at county four different times. This latest time, he was found as a stray by a Good Samaritan. His finder stated that Ace was great with his eight-year-old daughter. Despite being unsuccessful at finding a forever home, Ace is very perky, upbeat, and social. He has not given up hope and his positive attitude is very infectious. If you have a place in your heart and home for an older dog who deserves a forever home, please meet Ace. The adoption fee is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

Alice and Cooper, a bonded pair who must be adopted together, were turned in at the county shelter. Their finder said they had the dogs for just a day before taking them to the shelter. The finder also stated they were door-dashers, which might explain how they became strays in the first place. They also said the pups were good with the teenage children in their home. Alice is a four-year-old Border Collie mix weighing 39 pounds. She knows the command to sit, and her preference is to be sitting right in your lap. Cooper is a two-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing 39 pounds. Once out of his kennel and in a location where he can interact with you, he will do his best to hold onto you with his paws and show you how much he wants to be your friend. They are both nervous on the leash, and in time they will understand the leash is a good thing. The total adoption fee for both pups is $350 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

 . BEA . . BEA .
  • Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
Sweet Bea is just two years old, but she has already created quite a history book. Originally, Bea was captured in a trap out in a field and then taken to the county shelter, where Home Fur Good found her. Bea was under-socialized and needed to learn all about how to be a dog. You know, the good stuff, like going for walks. Bea was adopted out of HFG and she has been with a family for the past year. She is an active 45-pound Australian Cattle Dog mix. Bea is young and intelligent; she needs to play a role in family activities. Her family just did not have the time to devote to her. Bea did well with the children in her home, who were over five years old. Bea has not spent quality time with other dogs, and she appears intimidated by them. She warms up quickly and will sit when asked. After burning a little energy, Bea would love to snuggle up and get a good belly rub. If you would like to finish her story with a Happily Ever After, please come meet Bea. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

Bullseye is a one-year-old, 53-pound Bull Terrier mix who has found himself left at the county shelter twice now. He has the handsome looks and he also has the brains; he will proudly show off his good-boy sitting skills. However, Bullseye may look like a full-grown adult, but inside, he is still a puppy bursting with energy. Like any learning puppy, he will continue to test boundaries. Bullseye needs a home where he will receive plenty of structured play and exercise. With consistent training and socialization, Bullseye will thrive in his forever home. Due to his size and energy level, he would do best in a home with older children and with an active family. While at county, Bullseye was introduced to other dogs and he did engage in appropriate play with them. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

Talk about your unique looks, Carly takes the prize right now at Home Fur Good. Have you ever heard of a Belgian Laekenois? A quick search might explain this breed as a Belgian Shepherd. She is two years old and she weighs 51 pounds. Carly is a social girl, happily coming out of her kennel and ready to take on whatever adventure is coming her way. When you mix a Rottweiler with a German Shepherd, you come up with a block-headed, squishie-faced love bug with a nubbin tail that never stops wagging. Madison was turned in at the county shelter as a stray. While at county, she was introduced to a doggie playgroup where she had tolerant interactions with other dogs. Minker, The Stinker, is definitely a favorite at Home Fur Good. Why would we call this 18-pound six-year-old a Stinker? Not because it is an insult, to be sure! Minker has a great sense of humor and he is always ready for anyone to take him on any sort of adventure. The best part about Minker is that a trip from his kennel to the lobby of the shelter is going to be the best trip of his life. He is such a stinker because he will make you smile and laugh even when you do not want to. Minker is a Chihuahua mix with the agility skills of an antelope. He is able to leap a four-foot wall in a single bound; what a stinker! Minker is great with other dogs and loves to play with his doggie friends. He also likes to unwind by hanging out in a nice warm lap. He is the perfect combination of playful entertainer and snuggly lapdog. Remember, Minker is a Chihuahua, and he does like to push buttons and boundaries. Minker did take Basic Obedience back in the summer of 2017 and it may be a good idea to give him a refresher course. He would do best with an experienced Chihuahua owner who will not let him get away with shenanigans. The adoption fee is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Talk about your pleasantly plump doggies. Raleigh will melt your heart if you adore sausages with legs. OK, OK, she is adorable, but Raleigh needs a home that will help her find a lifestyle with a bit more activity and fewer treats. She is a 10-year-old, 13-pound Chihuahua mix. She does not require fast-paced jogs; she is looking for easy strolls to keep her limber and mobile. Raleigh was taken to the county shelter as a stray. She had overgrown toenails and that, along with her weight, caused her difficulty with walking. Raleigh has no issue with being picked up and carried, but she needs to be able to get around on her own. County also removed three masses when she was spayed. Raleigh is the cutest, snuggliest muffin who makes sweet little grunt-grunt noises. Her new forever home will not regret one moment with her. Robert is an adorable pocket-size Pit Bull mix weighing 37 pounds. He was taken to the county shelter as a stray, and County noted that he became very excited and did not know how to appropriately release that energy. At seven years old, Robert is still a wide-eyed, curious kid. Everything is new to him: the leash, being fed at regular intervals, human contact and interaction. Home Fur Good cannot say for certain what his past was like, but it is suspected it was not very good. Robert came to HFG in June, and the desire was there to make sure he was given the best chance for a forever home. Robert spent several weeks with Couth Canine. First, he learned how to just be a dog, learning that he did not have to worry, that routines and consistency were in his future. Sit, stay, down...GOOD BOY! He responded amazingly well to his basic obedience training. While at Couth Canine, Robert also made several doggie friends. He came back to HFG with a whole new attitude. Volunteers and staff continue to work with him on leash manners, some choosing to carry him to his destination; he thinks he is a tiny lap dog. Robert also participates in the weekly visits by RunBuddyMobile, a mobile exercise gym. Robert has no desire to be an elite athlete; he prefers to spend his allotted exercise time sitting, looking cute and soaking up all the treats, petting, and adoration. Robert is very strong-minded, and he will need a strong owner who will keep his manners in check and continue with his training. We recommend older children only. The adoption fee is $150 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.
