Meet Allegra, a delightful 53-pound APBT mix with a personality as upbeat as her name suggests. At 9 years old, she has gracefully transitioned past the puppy stage but remains an active and engaging companion. Despite being deaf, Allegra is exceptionally tuned in to her surroundings, and demonstrates a remarkable level of awareness. This smart cookie thrives on mental stimulation. Her smarts make her stand out during enrichment activities at Home Fur Good. Allegra is not just a participant; she’s one of the fastest puzzle solvers there! She proves that age is no barrier to a sharp mind. However, kennel life has been a challenge for her, as her intelligence seeks constant engagement. During walks, Allegra is an attentive and eager partner. While her enthusiasm might initially lead to pulling, she quickly responds to redirection and settles into a pleasant stroll. Deafness hasn’t hindered her obedience training; she’s mastered hand signals for sit, give paw and wait. Allegra is ready and willing to learn many more! Allegra is destined to shine in a home environment. She craves one-on-one attention, where her best qualities can truly blossom. Boredom in the shelter sometimes prompts OCD behaviors, such as pacing and hyper-focusing on objects, but redirection quickly brings her back to her charming self. Allegra needs to be the only pet in a household, and after years of waiting, she deserves all the attention she can get. Her adoption fee of $150 includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. To meet this lovely senior, adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 602-971-1334. Meet Bev, a delightful one-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing in at a petite fourteen pounds. She has the prettiest smile under uniquely colored eyes. She couldn’t quite decide if she wanted to be brown-eyed or blue-eyed, so she chose one of each color. Initially reserved, Bev prefers gentle pets along her back and sides, gradually warming up to affectionate interactions. Although she may be hesitant at first, her fondness for human company shines through. Bev would make an exceptional couch buddy, ready to share cozy moments and bring joy into her forever home. Toys aren’t her main interest; however she eagerly awaits treats and accepts them with impeccable manners. Bev is still acclimating to leash walking. She’s not a fan of the kind that goes over her head. She would probably do best with a harness that doesn’t have to go over her head and a clip leash. Who needs a hunk of burning love in their life? Bubba is your man! Bubba is a cross between Shrek & and dog. He’s listed at 7 years old and a Pit Bull mix, weighing in at 92 pounds. He may be a senior but still has the drive to jog & stay in shape like a young man. Bubba loves taking walks and can even jog a few miles, he’s got long legs that move at a faster pace. Bubba does have allergies towards certain foods but is happy with the foods and treats he is able to eat. When taking him out for potty breaks or walks, it’s almost impossible to keep him from grabbing a stuffed toy on his way out. He’s been know around the neighborhood to carry these toys during his Sunday morning walks. In the yards, however, he enjoys a nice game of ‘who can tear the stuffy up the quickest’. Bubba was a long timer at county also, where he was able to be fostered for a bit by a woman who claims he was her shadow….he was also loyal and lovable to all people including adults & children. He does prefer to be the king of the household as an only pet. She also said he was housebroken and didn’t bark much in the home. Bubba has a history of multiple hematomas and ear infections, which has partially collapsed his inner right ear. He does require ear cleaning every two to three days which he doesn’t mind. He also doesn’t mind getting a rub down in a bath! If there’s a dog that loves massages, it’s Bubba! He will literally melt into you as you give him all the love he deserves. • Special Needs

Say hello to Bob! Bob was named for his short little "bobcat" tail that gives him a unique and adorable look. Bob was found abandoned outside of a shelter in a carrier. Attempts to find his owner were unsuccessful, so Bob is now on the hunt for a new family. Bob is an outgoing cat who likes attention, and is social and playful with both people and other cats. Bob has been with us for a few months while we figure out some medical needs he has. In this time, we have all gotten to know (and LOVE!) Bob quite well. Bob is a special need's kitty. He has the issue of incontinence, which is a result of his spine not fully forming en-utero, which has caused him to have no sensation in his hind end. In case you were wondering, kitty diapers ARE a thing! Bob will go home with his special diaper harness; the pads need to be changed several times a day. Bob is otherwise a young, healthy, and wonderful cat. He deserves a family that will love and accept him just the way he is. Call 602-971-1334 to learn more about Bob and schedule a meet and greet appointment! Bob is listed at two years old and weighs approximately 10 pounds. His adoption fee is $50. Coach has a very sweet nature about him and an overwhelming willingness to love. He enjoys attention and cuddling with his human friends once he has time to bond with them (he’s a giant lap dog!) It does take some patience for him to trust new people but when he does it is so well worth it! Coach is still young and he can be reactive to new people and dogs, but he is quickly learning that the world can be a fun place! THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING. THIS DOG IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. PLEASE CALL THE CONTACT LISTED AT END OF DESCRIPTION. Dexter is such a playful loving dog. He's just over 2 years old. We rescued him from a shelter when he was 4 months old. Because he was a rescue, we had a DNA check done using Embark. I will include the results picture if you're curious, but you can tell his dominant breed is Australian Shepard. He's very protective over his family. Great watchdog. Gets along great with other dogs and cats. He has graduated from obedience school with flying colors. He's crate-trained. He's housebroken and is doggy door-trained. He loves the outdoors. He's leash-trained as well. He's also chipped. For some reason, Dexter seems to be threatened by small children, it is recommended to be in a home with older kids and/or adults. Our home has small children and is not suited for Dexter. Please email at madams82@gmail.com or call 314-518-2953. We ask for a small rehoming fee of $50 which will be donated to the shelter. She’s a stocky, 50 pound, Pit Bull mix full of life. Fiji is in love with hard, plastic squeaky toys. She also loves to take a nice neighborhood stroll and walks nicely at your side. Fiji is a smart girl and can learn commands quickly, she’s perfected the ‘sit’ command and eagerly awaits a treat. She also enjoys the agility equipment in the yards and loves heading up & down the bridges! She’ll do just about anything for a treat! Fiji is also a ‘if she fits, she sits’ kind of gal. If you take a seat, she’ll be sitting on top of you before you know it. She’s known for her silly ways of sitting on anything she can get herself onto or into. She’s a fan of bus benches, garage sale boxes left on the sidewalks, neighborhood fountains and furniture being left for grabs! Like we said, she will fill your day with laughter! Are you perfect? No? Neither is Guinness! You guys have so much in common already. Guinness is an active and smart little guy who love, love, LOVES his toys. He's a pro at fetch and will "sit" on command if you reward him with another throw. He enjoys attention and pets from those he knows and trusts. It takes awhile for Guinness to get to know new people. He can be nervous in new situations and would do best in an adult-only home without a lot of commotion or visitors. Are you the kind of person that enjoys a routine? So is Guinness! A structured lifestyle is Guinness' dream. Guinness has some behavioral issues that will be best handled with an experienced dog family. Let's just get it all out there- Guinness has been known to bite and we aren't always sure of his triggers. We have discovered that food/treats can definitely be a trigger. He gets hyper-focused on the snack bag, and if you try to cut him off before he's had his fill... well, he may make a snack out of your fingers instead. Guinness does tolerate other calm and polite dogs, so long as they don't try to steal his toys; we get it, we don't like to share either! Guinness also does not appreciate when another dog gets all up in his biz by sniffing too invasively, or trying to get him to play. He could potentially do well in a home with another dog, provided that dog recognizes when to let Guinness have his alone time, and YOU are dedicated to close supervision during interactions between animals. Besides toys, Guinness also enjoys walks around the neighborhood, and walks great on leash. He is an energetic guy and would love to be active with you! So is he perfect? Nope. But do we love him anyway? Yep! Guinness is looking for someone to love him just the way he is, flaws and all. Now that's something we can ALL relate to, right? Guinness is listed at five-years-old and weighs approximately 18 pounds. His adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. JESSICA
JESSICAJESSICAJESSICAJESSICAJESSICA
  • Pit Bull Terrier, Vizsla, Mixed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Vaccinations up to date

Jessica has been busy making herself ready for a forever home. Once it was discovered that shelter life is far too stimulating for a smart girl like Jessica, staff and volunteers have worked to find out what makes Jessica tic. Jessica spent a couple of weeks at board and train with George of Couth Canine. His insight and lessons have helped create a better shelter environment for Jessica. A dedicated volunteer then took George’s guidance and took Jessica home to gain more insight and learn more about her needs and behaviors. It is believed that Jessica is closer to being under two years old, as opposed to the five years given to her by the county shelter. Jessica was very energetic, running up and down the stairs and throughout the foster home. She would play with 20 different toys in a matter of three minutes. It is felt that Jessica would do great in agility with how smart she is and her energy level. She does have separation anxiety and will chew and tear things in frustration. Jessica was never left loose and unsupervised in the home but she did tear up blankets in the kennel and would open and scratch at bathroom doors if you dared to shut her out of your business. Jessica is 90% potty trained. She did have a couple accidents, on day one, inside the home even though she peed outside 30 minutes prior. But by the second day there were zero accidents with supervision. Jessica did GREAT with the one year old child. Jessica was very gentle with her and would sit nicely next to the family while eating. However, when Jessica was wound up, she would jump up trying to bite or tug at the child’s blanket and this behavior could cause accidents, like mouthing the child’s legs in the process. Jessica has shown zero resource guarding issues. She shared toys, treats and water with the household dog, child and adults. Jessica is on calming medication and there is a noticeable difference when her medication starts to wear off. It shows in her impulse control. It was more difficult to get her to calm down and focus. This is when consistent training comes into play, the more Jessica is worked with in a calm state, the easier she can be redirected when the medication is weened. Most of the issues Jessica displays in the shelter environment, were non-existent in a home setting, except when she was super amped up and went after the household dog. Jessica was corrected but she was over stimulated at that point and was unsure where to direct her frustration. One on One, Jessica is super sweet, loving and eager to please. She just wants to be part of the family. Jessica is back at HFG where staff and volunteers are working hard to reinforce her training and make her shelter time as low stress inducing as possible. She will do best in a dog experienced home that will be able to continue her training while providing structure and consistency. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Luigi is a beautiful 2 year old German Shepherd mix who may have been a lonely, curious puppy as he was found wandering the streets twice before we rescued him. Now, Luigi has spent over a year of his short life at Home Fur Good and he really wants to go home. But taking on an under-socialized puppy requires patience and time and work and he has not met his forever family just yet. Luigi knows to sit when asked, but he does not understand the leash and that has been his main struggle when meeting new people. Unless Luigi knows and trusts you, he is not letting you come anywhere near his neck with any sort of leash or harness. He still exhibits signs of fear with new people and things, sometimes crouching timidly, or offering a mild sneer. But once he DOES know you and trust you, he is a goofball who just wants to play fetch and hear you laugh. He calms down for pets and enjoys chewing a toy by your side. He wants to please and we have learned that time and familiarity are going to be integral to Luigi's success. His ideal family (whether it's a single person, a couple, or a group) will benefit from meeting Luigi a few times at the shelter until he feels confident enough to go home. Luigi does not like sitting still and would thrive with walks and hikes and an active lifestyle. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. She knows that her soft fur and stunning white whiskers will draw you in for pets, and Marnie will happily accept; for a little while at least! Once she has had her fill of cuddles, she will let you know with a little hiss or swat, then go right back to being her prim-and-proper self. Marnie has been living in our Free Roaming cat room and seems to do well with other polite, respectful cats, who know to give her space, but she likes to cuddle up in her private kennel at night. Call 602-971-1334 for a meet and greet appointment with Marnie. Marnie is listed as a four-year-old domestic shorthair mix. Her adoption fee is $85. NUTMEG

  • Pit Bull Terrier, Boxer, Mixed
  • Spayed/Neutered

  • Prefers home without small kids

Nutmeg was turned in to the county shelter in early February 2022. While there, she seemed wary of new people, which did not help her on the adoption front. She does have a brief moment of shyness but if you have treats or start itching her bum, she will be your bestie, quick as a blink. Home Fur Good took her in and thought her forever home had been found, but it did not work out. Nutmeg has a positive attitude and she is ready to try again. She is a total lapdog and wants to soak up as much affection as she can. If you get goofy, or squeak a toy, she will get all silly and show you her amazing zoomies. Nutmeg is also a smarty-pants; she knows sit, paw or shake, and we think she knows down. If Nutmeg's new home has children, there should only be older children. Nutmeg is four-years-old and she is a 45-pound Pit Bull and Boxer mix. Give a call to meet your new girlfriend! The adoption fee for Nutmeg is $225. All adoption fees include spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment. View full description »

THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING. THIS DOG IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. PLEASE CALL THE CONTACT LISTED AT END OF DESCRIPTION. Oliver is a sweet, playful guy. Oliver does not like my two cats (the feeling is mutual). I had hopes that they would get along but that isn't the case. He might get along better with another playful small dog. He would certainly be best as the king of his castle with all the attention on him. Oliver enjoys his walks about town although he can get excited and pull. If you would like a fun and loyal companion Oliver is your guy! Please contact Rhea 602 814-6852 if you are interested to meet him. View full description »

Onyx prefers a slow and general approach while he gets acquainted, some extra catnip doesn’t hurt! Petey came to Home Fur Good in November 2021 after being found as a stray. He was coming up on a full year at HFG, and steps have been taken to help him complete the process to find his forever family. Getting his stats out there, he is three years old, and he is a 53-pound, Boxer mix. HFG has always known that Petey is a good boy and that he has amazing potential to learn new tricks, skills, and the desired behaviors to become an amazing canine citizen. Petey has spent two full weeks in Board and Train with George at Couth Canine. Petey was introduced to heeling and sitting at his handler’s side. Petey loves going on walks and adventures, and by learning leash manners, his opportunity to go out and about increases tenfold. Petey thrived with school and having a pack leader. Petey’s biggest desire is hanging out with people and feeling pets and affection. He is willing to listen and follow instruction for the sheer joy of a head scratch and hearing “good boy.” His forever family will need to continue to work with Petey. A tight bond can be developed with a healthy environment of a strong pack leader and Petey. Petey is fine making new dog friends. His preference is for dogs who give him space and prefer co-existing over wrestling. If you can match Petey’s vibrant attitude, come on down and meet him. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. RANDY
RANDYRANDYRANDYRANDY
  • Mixed Breed, Boxer, Mixed
  • Spayed/Neutered

  • Prefers home without small kidsPrefers home without dogsPrefers home without catsSpecial Needs

Ahhh, what to say about RANDY? Home Fur Good loves this guy, and we know his perfect family is out there that will love him just the way he is. And the way Randy "is,"... is a bit special! ;-) Randy has had a few failed adoptions thus far, but we all know you don't often find true love on the first try. Randy has spent quite a bit of time with our trainer, who has helped us gain some more insight into his personality. To start, Randy is a FUN guy! He clearly has a talent for doggy modelling, and would love a forever home that takes lots and lots of pictures of his handsome face. Randy is always willing to pose with his "sit" and "paw" tricks, and will happily show them off for some treats. Randy has the perfect moderate energy level. Sometimes he enjoys a good run around the yard with a toy, and sometimes he's happy to curl up on a bed and chill out with a chew bone. Randy is affectionate with those he knows (he loves a good back scratch), but also independent enough to sniff around and explore on his own. In fact, Randy has quite the independent streak to him, which is part of what has made finding his perfect forever fit a bit of a challenge. Per Home Fur Good's trainer, Randy has quite a stubborn streak to him, and will do best in a home that sets boundaries while still allowing Randy to be Randy. He does not enjoy being "forced" to do things, and does not respond well to "discipline-based" dog training. Randy will do best in a home that loves him just the way he is, and is willing to get to know Randy on his terms. Randy will also do best in a home with no small children, and no other animals. We KNOW Randy's perfect person is out there waiting for him... could that person be YOU? Randy is listed at three years old and weighs 52 pounds. Randy is currently in board and train with Home Fur Good's trainer in Phx. Call 602-971-1334 and we will get you in touch with Randy's trainer for a meet and greet. Randy's adoption fee is $150 and includes prior training, spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment only. View full description »

Renaldo was on his best behavior when Home Fur Good came to meet him, and he won himself a spot at HFG, and HFG committed to finding him the perfect forever home. Renaldo is a two-year-old, bull terrier mix and he weighs 48 pounds. Renaldo happily makes instant friends with any human that he meets, especially if it means an outing from his kennel!
