Kingston was adopted 3/2018 & is in search of a new home due to not adjusting well to a growing toddler. He needs to find a calm home where he can thrive and relax. King is well trained with basic commands, can walk on a leash (though sometimes doesn’t want to leave home), and is potty trained. He’s a loving companion that loves to play with toys, chew on bones, play wrestle, and loves a good butt scratch. He will do best in a home without small children, other dogs, or cats. He’s 7.5 years old and has always been an anxious boy that gets spooked easily, but is a happy and chill pup when he’s comfortable. He’s neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines. To manage some skin allergies, Kingston takes allergy medication and eats food without chicken/grain. Please text or call Melissa at 602-882-5255 if you’re interested in Kingston. • Spayed/Neutered
  • Housebroken

  • Prefers home without small kidsSpecial Needs

Are you perfect? No? Neither is Guinness! You guys have so much in common already. Guinness is an active and smart little guy who love, love, LOVES his toys. He's a pro at fetch and will "sit" on command if you reward him with another throw. He enjoys attention and pets from those he knows and trusts. It takes awhile for Guinness to get to know new people. He can be nervous in new situations and would do best in an adult-only home without a lot of commotion or visitors. Are you the kind of person that enjoys a routine? So is Guinness! A structured lifestyle is Guinness' dream. Guinness has some behavioral issues that will be best handled with an experienced dog family. Let's just get it all out there- Guinness has been known to bite and we aren't always sure of his triggers. We have discovered that food/treats can definitely be a trigger. He gets hyper-focused on the snack bag, and if you try to cut him off before he's had his fill... well, he may make a snack out of your fingers instead. Guinness does tolerate other calm and polite dogs, so long as they don't try to steal his toys; we get it, we don't like to share either! Guinness also does not appreciate when another dog gets all up in his biz by sniffing too invasively, or trying to get him to play. He could potentially do well in a home with another dog, provided that dog recognizes when to let Guinness have his alone time, and YOU are dedicated to close supervision during interactions between animals. Besides toys, Guinness also enjoys walks around the neighborhood, and walks great on leash. He is an energetic guy and would love to be active with you! So is he perfect? Nope. But do we love him anyway? Yep! Guinness is looking for someone to love him just the way he is, flaws and all. Now that's something we can ALL relate to, right? Guinness is listed at 6.5-years-old and weighs approximately 18 pounds. His adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment. View full description »

HOLLY

HOLLY
HOLLYHOLLYHOLLYHOLLY
  • Chihuahua, Mixed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Vaccinations up to date

Meet Holly, a two-year-old, 13-pound Chihuahua mix. This beautiful girl was rescued from a county shelter after giving birth to five healthy puppies. She was placed in a foster home, where she proved to be an amazing mom and a loving, intelligent companion. Holly is fully potty trained and quickly learned to use a doggy door. She’s extremely food-motivated, making training fun and easy—she already knows “sit” and “shake” with both paws! She loves playing fetch, especially with stuffed toys, though she enjoys de-squeaking them, too. She’s a lightning-fast runner and an agile climber, so she requires a securely fenced yard with no easy climbing points. Holly tolerates a crate for short periods but prefers lounging on the sofa or sunbathing. She enjoys car rides and walks well on a leash, though she may pull from excitement. A harness is recommended to protect her trachea. Holly can be a little shadow, quietly staying underfoot, so her new family should be mindful to avoid tripping. She may gently nip at ankles or pant legs like a herding dog. As a known bolter, extra caution is needed when opening doors. She hasn’t been tested with other dogs in a home but has shown no reactivity on walks. Holly may be a bit reserved at first, but once she bonds, she’s incredibly affectionate. If you're looking for a smart, loving companion, Holly is ready to find her forever home! Holly’s adoption fee of $225 covers essential services such as spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Please don't hesitate to schedule an appointment to meet Holly during adoption hours, Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, by calling 602-971-1334. View full description »

Hopper is an adorable five-year-old, 4-pound Chihuahua mix. Though this tiny fellow may be a little shy at first, he warms up with patience and gentle care. Once he feels safe, Hopper loves nothing more than snuggling up in cozy blankets—his happy place! He’s also a curious little guy who enjoys watching everything going on around him, always staying alert and observant. Hopper is fine being carried, but he doesn’t walk on a leash, making him an ideal companion for someone who enjoys quiet, cuddle-filled moments. He has luxating patellas, a common condition in small breeds where the kneecap can slip out of place. Thankfully, this doesn’t cause him any discomfort, and surgery isn’t necessary at this time, though it may be considered in the future. Hopper’s $225 adoption fee includes neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Jas is a two-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix with a gentle but timid spirit. She is still learning to trust and tends to freeze when faced with new situations. While we don’t know what past experiences have shaped her cautious nature, we have seen her begin to relax when given patience and understanding. Jas will need time to feel safe, but for the right adopter, the journey of earning her trust will be incredibly rewarding. Jas met another small dog and seemed comforted by his presence, showing a little less anxiety when he was nearby. A home with a calm, confident dog may help her come out of her shell. She would do best with a patient family, willing to give her the time and space she needs to decompress and warm up at her own pace. JESSICA

JESSICA
JESSICAJESSICAJESSICA
  • Pit Bull Terrier, Vizsla, Mixed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Vaccinations up to date

Jessica has been busy making herself ready for a forever home. Once it was discovered that shelter life is far too stimulating for a smart girl like Jessica, staff and volunteers have worked to find out what makes Jessica tic. Jessica spent a couple of weeks at board and train with George of Couth Canine. His insight and lessons have helped create a better shelter environment for Jessica. A dedicated volunteer then took George’s guidance and took Jessica home to gain more insight and learn more about her needs and behaviors. It is believed that Jessica is closer to being under two years old, as opposed to the five years given to her by the county shelter. Jessica was very energetic, running up and down the stairs and throughout the foster home. She would play with 20 different toys in a matter of three minutes. It is felt that Jessica would do great in agility with how smart she is and her energy level. She does have separation anxiety and will chew and tear things in frustration. Jessica was never left loose and unsupervised in the home but she did tear up blankets in the kennel and would open and scratch at bathroom doors if you dared to shut her out of your business. Jessica is 90% potty trained. She did have a couple accidents, on day one, inside the home even though she peed outside 30 minutes prior. But by the second day there were zero accidents with supervision. Jessica did GREAT with the one year old child. Jessica was very gentle with her and would sit nicely next to the family while eating. However, when Jessica was wound up, she would jump up trying to bite or tug at the child’s blanket and this behavior could cause accidents, like mouthing the child’s legs in the process. Jessica has shown zero resource guarding issues. She shared toys, treats and water with the household dog, child and adults. Jessica is on calming medication and there is a noticeable difference when her medication starts to wear off. It shows in her impulse control. It was more difficult to get her to calm down and focus. This is when consistent training comes into play, the more Jessica is worked with in a calm state, the easier she can be redirected when the medication is weened. Most of the issues Jessica displays in the shelter environment, were non-existent in a home setting, except when she was super amped up and went after the household dog. Jessica was corrected but she was over stimulated at that point and was unsure where to direct her frustration. One on One, Jessica is super sweet, loving and eager to please. She just wants to be part of the family. Jessica is back at HFG where staff and volunteers are working hard to reinforce her training and make her shelter time as low stress inducing as possible. She will do best in a dog experienced home that will be able to continue her training while providing structure and consistency. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment. View full description »

Jupiter is a five-year-old, 43-pound German Shepherd mix with a future that’s full of potential. While he may be a little reserved at first, it doesn’t take long for him to warm up and become an attentive and eager companion. This smart boy already knows how to sit and shake, and his love for treats—especially cheese—makes him a quick learner for future training. Jupiter takes his treats politely and enjoys showing off his playful side, happily chasing after toys and bringing them back with a cheerful play bow. Although he can get a bit overenthusiastic and jump up on people, Jupiter responds well to training and is eager to please. He cooperates with leashing but could use some additional leash work. Impressively, he has shown the ability to remain calm and non-reactive when walking past barking dogs, making him an easily redirectable companion. Meatball is a seven-year-old, 68-pound American Pit Bull Terrier mix. His journey began at just a few days old when Home Fur Good rescued him from the county shelter. He needed a mother, and Gia, a Norfolk Terrier who had recently given birth, welcomed him into her litter. Though he towered over his adoptive siblings, Meatball fit right in. Once he was old enough, he found a home, but due to changes in his adopter’s circumstances, he has returned to HFG as an adult. Meatball is a sweet, playful, and affectionate dog with plenty of energy. He thrives on interaction and is highly treat-motivated, making training a breeze. He already knows ‘sit’ and ‘shake’ and does well on a leash. It’s important to walk him with a harness, however. He is sensitive to having his windpipe constricted when walking with only a collar. Meatball enjoys the company of older children, though his enthusiasm may be overwhelming for little ones. He has also spent time with other dogs. Meatball’s adoption fee of $150 includes his neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Nutmeg was turned in to the county shelter in early February 2022. While there, she seemed wary of new people, which did not help her on the adoption front. She does have a brief moment of shyness but if you have treats or start itching her bum, she will be your bestie, quick as a blink. Home Fur Good took her in and thought her forever home had been found, but it did not work out. Nutmeg has a positive attitude and she is ready to try again. She is a total lapdog and wants to soak up as much affection as she can. If you get goofy, or squeak a toy, she will get all silly and show you her amazing zoomies. Nutmeg is also a smarty-pants; she knows sit, paw or shake, and we think she knows down. If Nutmeg's new home has children, there should only be older children. Nutmeg is five-years-old and she is a 45-pound Pit Bull and Boxer mix. Give a call to meet your new girlfriend! The adoption fee for Nutmeg is $225. PETEYPETEYPETEY

  • Prefers home without small kids

Petey has had a DNA Test, he is 42% American Pit Bull Terrier, 17% American Staffordshire Terrier, 8% Boxer, 8% Chow Chow and 4% Chihuahua. That sounds like Super Mutt to us! Petey’s birthday is November 23, 2019, and he has been at Home Fur Good since November 2021. Petey was found as a stray. His finders took him home and he was free to roam with the husband, wife and their existing dogs with no issues. Over time, Petey has developed negative shelter behaviors, for example, kennel and stranger reactivity. In September 2022, Petey went to Couth Canine for Board and Train. Petey was trained on a prong collar. He learned sit, down, place, wait and heel. While at Couth Canine, Petey did have yard time with other dogs. Couth Canine feels that Petey’s reaction to meeting new people is from fear. Petey does not know what the new person wants, so Petey learned if he lip curls and growls, people usually go away and then Petey does not have to worry about them any longer. Petey was trained on a prong collar and he does know how to heal. He is receptive to training and aims to please, just give him time to understand your requirements. Petey will happily walk for 15 minutes or 15 miles, he just loves to be outside and with a human. Petey’s absolute favorite activity is swimming. He will leap, jump and dive into a pool. Laps for hours and fetching a tennis ball make him the happiest. Petey will want to meet you more than once before you can enter his circle of trust. Throwing a ball over the fence, going for walks with Petey and his handler, giving him treats without expectation, are all routes to earning his trust. A home that doesn’t entertain or have tons of company would be best for Petey. He is crate trained and has had sleep overs while at Home Fur Good and he is content in a crate. Petey is not a fan of cats, he is intrigued by horses, and he finds cows to be appalling. When a serious, committed adopter arrives for Petey, there will be HELP. Paid for training back with George at Couth Canine for both Petey and his new family. Petey’s fans want to set him up to succeed! The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Ahhh, what to say about RANDY? Home Fur Good loves this guy, and we know his perfect family is out there that will love him just the way he is. And the way Randy "is,"... is a bit special! ;-) Randy has had a few failed adoptions thus far, but we all know you don't often find true love on the first try. Randy has spent quite a bit of time with our trainer, who has helped us gain some more insight into his personality. To start, Randy is a FUN guy! He clearly has a talent for doggy modelling, and would love a forever home that takes lots and lots of pictures of his handsome face. Randy is always willing to pose with his "sit" and "paw" tricks, and will happily show them off for some treats. Randy has the perfect moderate energy level. Sometimes he enjoys a good run around the yard with a toy, and sometimes he's happy to curl up on a bed and chill out with a chew bone. Randy is affectionate with those he knows (he loves a good back scratch), but also independent enough to sniff around and explore on his own. In fact, Randy has quite the independent streak to him, which is part of what has made finding his perfect forever fit a bit of a challenge. Per Home Fur Good's trainer, Randy has quite a stubborn streak to him, and will do best in a home that sets boundaries while still allowing Randy to be Randy. He does not enjoy being "forced" to do things, and does not respond well to "discipline-based" dog training. Randy will do best in a home that loves him just the way he is, and is willing to get to know Randy on his terms. Randy will also do best in a home with no small children, and no other animals. We KNOW Randy's perfect person is out there waiting for him... could that person be YOU? Randy is 6.5-years-old and weighs 52 pounds. Randy is currently in board and train with Home Fur Good's trainer in Phx. Call 602-971-1334 and we will get you in touch with Randy's trainer for a meet and greet. Randy's adoption fee is $150 and includes prior training, spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. THEOTHEOTHEO
  • Terrier, Mixed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Vaccinations up to date

Theo is a resilient two-year-old, 15-pound Terrier mix with a heart ready to heal. Found terrified and running through traffic, he arrived at Home Fur Good in desperate need of care. His coat was badly matted, and it was clear he had not been treated with the love he deserves. Understandably, Theo was very frightened at first, but with time and patience, he has started to come out of his shell. Though still shy and easily startled, Theo has made great progress. He needs gentle introductions and a slow approach, as sudden movements can make him nervous and defensive. Meet Venus, a spirited and affectionate two-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix weighing 42 pounds. This lively girl is full of energy and eager to share her zest for life with an active family. Whether it's running, jumping, or playing tug—her absolute favorite game—Violet is always ready for action! She thrives on physical activity and would do best in a home with a yard where she can stretch her legs and burn off energy. Venus is not only playful but also incredibly smart. She’s both toy- and treat-motivated, making her an excellent candidate for training. A harness is recommended for walks, as she’s still learning that strolls aren’t races! She enjoys pets and handling, making vet visits a breeze. If you have another dog at home, a meet-and-greet is essential. Venus’ enthusiasm may be a bit much for a laid-back pup. Her $225 adoption fee includes spaying, vaccinations, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness exam at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. To meet Venus, call 602-971-1334 to schedule an appointment during adoption hours, Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Venus is ready to bring joy and adventure to her forever home—could that be yours? View full description »

Violet is a gentle soul searching for a patient and loving home to call her own. This 4-year-old, 51-pound American Pit Bull Terrier mix has endured hardships no dog should face, including the frightening experience of being tazed while loose on the streets—not due to aggression, but rather a misjudgment. Despite her past, Violet has a kind and tender heart. Understandably shy, she takes time to trust new people, but with patience and a soft approach, she begins to blossom, offering sweet tail wags as a sign of her growing comfort. Violet is well-mannered on a leash, allowing herself to be harnessed without issue and walking calmly by other dogs. She’s not shown signs of reactivity, making her a wonderful potential companion for a household willing to help her build confidence. This hidden treasure is waiting for a special person or family to give her the love and security she deserves. Violet’s adoption fee of $225 covers spaying, vaccinations, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Meet Violet during adoption hours—Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.by calling 602-971-1334 to schedule an appointment. She’s ready to start her new chapter with a family that sees the beauty in her gentle heart. View full description »
