Home. Such a powerful word. A meaningful place. For Greta, home helped her find her way to trusting humans. It is a wonderful thing. Can you please help her in her journey to love, belly rubs, and trust? Read her story and then come meet her. Greta, a beautiful dilute tortie born 3/7/2021, has been through a lot. She was a feral cat that gave birth in the spring of 2023 to a litter of three in her finder's roof; all three of her kittens were adopted. Since coming to the shelter in 2023, Greta had been trying to adjust to a domesticated life surrounded by people and other cats. We were confident that given time and space, Greta would learn that people were here to care and love her. To help her along that path, Greta went to a calm and loving foster home where they showed her that she can trust humans who go slow with her. At the shelter, Greta would swat away hands wanting to pet her. But in her foster home, she would walk over to rub against the foster's hand. And when foster mom was away for a few days, Greta came to foster dad just fine. Greta came back to the shelter in mid-April and oh, such a change. She welcomes pets and gentle stroking, even BELLY RUBS earn a purr. She’s a love bug now, all due to the security of a home. Please help her journey to being a valued member of a home, a home with no other cats or dogs. Greta's adoption fee of $85 includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FELV, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. To meet Greta, our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 602.971.1334. Torbie alert! A torbie is a cross between a tortoiseshell and a tabby, a stunning mix. Pepper, born in April 2020, is just such a cat. She lived for a month with a family who took her off the street, but they couldn't keep her as the dog objected. Her favorites while in this home include the kids, chin and ear scratches, tuna-flavored Churus, and playing with hair ties. Come meet this pretty girl. Pepper's adoption fee of $85 includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FELV, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Popeye is a big, sweet boy who was adopted in February 2025 but has been returned due to the health of his owner. He has a bit of a stern face, but he readily accepts chin and head rubs. He has again quickly become a favorite of staff and volunteers for his loving nature. Popeye, born 1/4/2017, was noted to be good with other cats, likes feather toys and those that make noise. He can, though, be intimidated by cats with stronger personalities so if his new home has cats, they should be polite cats who welcome him. He is a big love bug! Popeye’s adoption fee of $50 includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FELV, microchipping, and a follow-up wellness exam at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Popeye is currently at PetSmart located at Tatum and Shea Blvd so stop by the store to check him out. If you are interested in meeting or adopting Popeye, call Home Fur Good at 602.971.1334 and let us know you are interested in a cat at PetSmart. View full description »

Timothy, born in May 2023, came from a home with just too many cats. He and his brother Fred came from that home. They aren't bonded but evidently, they are brother friendly. Timothy is finally feeling a bit comfortable exploring in our cat room, where, like his brother Fred, he's found a favorite spot at the bird window. He will come over, if you are calm and quiet, for treats and for pets. He's learning to be brave. Timothy's adoption fee of $85 includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FELV, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital.
