Meet Allegra, a delightful 53-pound APBT mix with a personality as upbeat as her name suggests. At 9 years old, she has gracefully transitioned past the puppy stage but remains an active and engaging companion. Despite being deaf, Allegra is exceptionally tuned in to her surroundings, and demonstrates a remarkable level of awareness. This smart cookie thrives on mental stimulation. Her smarts make her stand out during enrichment activities at Home Fur Good. Allegra is not just a participant; she’s one of the fastest puzzle solvers there! She proves that age is no barrier to a sharp mind. However, kennel life has been a challenge for her, as her intelligence seeks constant engagement. During walks, Allegra is an attentive and eager partner. While her enthusiasm might initially lead to pulling, she quickly responds to redirection and settles into a pleasant stroll. Deafness hasn’t hindered her obedience training; she’s mastered hand signals for sit, give paw and wait. Allegra is ready and willing to learn many more! Allegra is destined to shine in a home environment. She craves one-on-one attention, where her best qualities can truly blossom. Boredom in the shelter sometimes prompts OCD behaviors, such as pacing and hyper-focusing on objects, but redirection quickly brings her back to her charming self. Allegra needs to be the only pet in a household, and after years of waiting, she deserves all the attention she can get. Allegra is available for adoption or permanent foster. Her adoption fee of $150 includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. To meet this lovely senior, adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 602-971-1334. As part of our HFG Senior Support Program, Allegra is also available for permanent foster thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization. If you become a permanent foster, HFG will pay for Allegra’s vet visits, dental care, medications, prescription foods, and any other necessary care to keep her thriving in your foster home. Call us at 602-971-1334 or email info@homefurgood.org if you’re interested in becoming Allegra’s permanent foster! View full description »

Say “Hello” to an incredible pup named Coach, a 4-year-old Lab mix who’s on the lookout for his forever home. If you’re in search of a loving companion who will fill your life with joy and laughter, Coach just might be your perfect match! Coach is the kind of dog who knows how to give you all the feels. With his big, expressive eyes and gentle demeanor, he’ll melt your heart in no time. This affectionate boy adores giving kisses and has a knack for finding the coziest spot on your lap for some quality cuddle time. There’s nothing better than a warm pup snuggled up next to you, right? But don’t let his love for lounging fool you—Coach is also an outdoor enthusiast! He loves going for walks and will make an excellent hiking buddy. He walks at a nice pace, checks in with you frequently, and is always up for exploring new trails. Imagine the adventures you could share! While Coach is incredibly loving, he does have some unique needs that his future owner should be aware of. He can be a bit protective over his humans and his space, so it’s important to have an owner who is comfortable taking the lead. A little training goes a long way, and Coach thrives with positive reinforcement. If you have experience with dog training, you’ll find that Coach is a quick learner and eager to please! To help him adjust to his new environment, we recommend that he sleeps in a crate initially. This will give him a safe space to feel secure while he settles into his new home. And while he gets along with small animals, Coach would prefer to be the only pet in the household, allowing him to shine as your one and only companion. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving friend who will bring endless joy to your life, consider adopting Coach! He’s ready to fill your days with laughter, adventure, and those sweet, slobbery kisses we all love. If you think you might be the right fit for this special boy, reach out to Home Fur Good. Are you perfect? No? Neither is Guinness! You guys have so much in common already. Guinness is an active and smart little guy who love, love, LOVES his toys. He's a pro at fetch and will "sit" on command if you reward him with another throw. He enjoys attention and pets from those he knows and trusts. It takes awhile for Guinness to get to know new people. He can be nervous in new situations and would do best in an adult-only home without a lot of commotion or visitors. Are you the kind of person that enjoys a routine? So is Guinness! A structured lifestyle is Guinness' dream. Guinness has some behavioral issues that will be best handled with an experienced dog family. Let's just get it all out there- Guinness has been known to bite and we aren't always sure of his triggers. We have discovered that food/treats can definitely be a trigger. He gets hyper-focused on the snack bag, and if you try to cut him off before he's had his fill... well, he may make a snack out of your fingers instead. Guinness does tolerate other calm and polite dogs, so long as they don't try to steal his toys; we get it, we don't like to share either! Guinness also does not appreciate when another dog gets all up in his biz by sniffing too invasively, or trying to get him to play. He could potentially do well in a home with another dog, provided that dog recognizes when to let Guinness have his alone time, and YOU are dedicated to close supervision during interactions between animals. Besides toys, Guinness also enjoys walks around the neighborhood, and walks great on leash. He is an energetic guy and would love to be active with you! So is he perfect? Nope. But do we love him anyway? Yep! Guinness is looking for someone to love him just the way he is, flaws and all. Now that's something we can ALL relate to, right? Guinness is listed at 6.5-years-old and weighs approximately 18 pounds. His adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment. View full description »

JESSICA

JESSICA
JESSICAJESSICAJESSICA
  • Pit Bull Terrier, Vizsla, Mixed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Vaccinations up to date

Jessica has been busy making herself ready for a forever home. Once it was discovered that shelter life is far too stimulating for a smart girl like Jessica, staff and volunteers have worked to find out what makes Jessica tic. Jessica spent a couple of weeks at board and train with George of Couth Canine. His insight and lessons have helped create a better shelter environment for Jessica. A dedicated volunteer then took George’s guidance and took Jessica home to gain more insight and learn more about her needs and behaviors. It is believed that Jessica is closer to being under two years old, as opposed to the five years given to her by the county shelter. Jessica was very energetic, running up and down the stairs and throughout the foster home. She would play with 20 different toys in a matter of three minutes. It is felt that Jessica would do great in agility with how smart she is and her energy level. She does have separation anxiety and will chew and tear things in frustration. Jessica was never left loose and unsupervised in the home but she did tear up blankets in the kennel and would open and scratch at bathroom doors if you dared to shut her out of your business. Jessica is 90% potty trained. She did have a couple accidents, on day one, inside the home even though she peed outside 30 minutes prior. But by the second day there were zero accidents with supervision. Jessica did GREAT with the one year old child. Jessica was very gentle with her and would sit nicely next to the family while eating. However, when Jessica was wound up, she would jump up trying to bite or tug at the child’s blanket and this behavior could cause accidents, like mouthing the child’s legs in the process. Jessica has shown zero resource guarding issues. She shared toys, treats and water with the household dog, child and adults. Jessica is on calming medication and there is a noticeable difference when her medication starts to wear off. It shows in her impulse control. It was more difficult to get her to calm down and focus. This is when consistent training comes into play, the more Jessica is worked with in a calm state, the easier she can be redirected when the medication is weened. Most of the issues Jessica displays in the shelter environment, were non-existent in a home setting, except when she was super amped up and went after the household dog. Jessica was corrected but she was over stimulated at that point and was unsure where to direct her frustration. One on One, Jessica is super sweet, loving and eager to please. She just wants to be part of the family. Jessica is back at HFG where staff and volunteers are working hard to reinforce her training and make her shelter time as low stress inducing as possible. She will do best in a dog experienced home that will be able to continue her training while providing structure and consistency. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment. View full description »

However, with time and patience, Nathaniel reveals his loving and attentive personality to those who earn his trust. He enjoys gentle petting and politely accepts treats, forming a special bond with those in his inner circle. Nathaniel would thrive with a calm, understanding adopter who can provide him with slow, steady introductions and a safe, quiet space to decompress. His ideal home would embrace his sensitive nature and nurture his confidence. Nathaniel’s adoption fee of $225 includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. If you’re ready to meet this sweet, soulful pup, schedule an appointment during adoption hours, Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, by calling 602-971-1334. Nathaniel can’t wait to find his forever family! View full description »

  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Vaccinations up to date

Neptune is an adorable five-month-old, 16-pound puppy who is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. While his paperwork from MCACC lists him as a German Shepherd mix, his triangular ears, tightly curled tail, and foxlike features suggest he might have some Shiba Inu in him. Whatever his breed, Neptune is undeniably a cutie and brimming with playful puppy energy. True to his age, Neptune bounces, jumps, nibbles on fingers, and occasionally gets the zoomies. He’s still learning about the world, which means he’ll need consistent socialization and training to grow into his full potential. Once he masters his good dog skills, Neptune will make an ideal all-purpose companion, ready for any adventure life throws his way. Likely to grow into a medium-sized dog, Neptune’s size and energy are perfect for an active family. Whether it’s long walks, hikes, or even agility training, Neptune is ready to dive in and keep up. NUTMEG

NUTMEG
NUTMEGNUTMEGNUTMEG
  • Pit Bull Terrier, Boxer, Mixed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Vaccinations up to date
  • Prefers home without small kids

Nutmeg was turned in to the county shelter in early February 2022. While there, she seemed wary of new people, which did not help her on the adoption front. She does have a brief moment of shyness but if you have treats or start itching her bum, she will be your bestie, quick as a blink. Home Fur Good took her in and thought her forever home had been found, but it did not work out. Nutmeg has a positive attitude and she is ready to try again. She is a total lapdog and wants to soak up as much affection as she can. If you get goofy, or squeak a toy, she will get all silly and show you her amazing zoomies. Nutmeg is also a smarty-pants; she knows sit, paw or shake, and we think she knows down. If Nutmeg's new home has children, there should only be older children. Nutmeg is five-years-old and she is a 45-pound Pit Bull and Boxer mix. Give a call to meet your new girlfriend! The adoption fee for Nutmeg is $225. All adoption fees include spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment. View full description »

PEANUT

PEANUT
PEANUTPEANUT
  • Shih Tzu, Mixed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Vaccinations up to date

Peanut, a thirteen-year-old, 11-pound Shih Tzu mix, is a mellow senior with a heart full of calm companionship. This laid-back little fellow enjoys being near people but isn’t one to demand constant attention. Peanut is perfectly content exploring a yard at his own pace, pausing to “water” his surroundings, and showing little concern for who might be nearby. He’s not particularly interested in toys or treats but delights in quiet moments and gentle affection. Peanut is easygoing around other dogs, neither reactive nor eager to engage. He allows polite greetings but prefers to do his own thing, making him a peaceful addition to a home with other pets. He’s also completely comfortable with being touched and handled, including sensitive spots like his paws and tail, making him a wonderful companion for someone looking for a relaxed and low-maintenance furry friend. Peanut is a Guardian Angel dog with an adoption fee of $225. Guardian Angel dogs are highly desirable and command an increased adoption fee. This higher fee is used to defray the costs of caring for rescues with special needs, either medical or behavioral, or for those who are with us for unusually long periods of time. In this way our Guardian Angels directly help our other rescues! Adoption fees include spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment by calling 602-971-1334. View full description »

PETEY

PETEY
PETEYPETEYPETEY
  • Boxer, Pit Bull Terrier, Mixed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Vaccinations up to date
  • Prefers home without small kids

Petey has had a DNA Test, he is 42% American Pit Bull Terrier, 17% American Staffordshire Terrier, 8% Boxer, 8% Chow Chow and 4% Chihuahua. That sounds like Super Mutt to us! Petey’s birthday is November 23, 2019, and he has been at Home Fur Good since November 2021. Petey was found as a stray. His finders took him home and he was free to roam with the husband, wife and their existing dogs with no issues. Over time, Petey has developed negative shelter behaviors, for example, kennel and stranger reactivity. In September 2022, Petey went to Couth Canine for Board and Train. Petey was trained on a prong collar. He learned sit, down, place, wait and heel. While at Couth Canine, Petey did have yard time with other dogs. Couth Canine feels that Petey’s reaction to meeting new people is from fear. Petey does not know what the new person wants, so Petey learned if he lip curls and growls, people usually go away and then Petey does not have to worry about them any longer. Petey was trained on a prong collar and he does know how to heal. He is receptive to training and aims to please, just give him time to understand your requirements. Petey will happily walk for 15 minutes or 15 miles, he just loves to be outside and with a human. Petey’s absolute favorite activity is swimming. He will leap, jump and dive into a pool. Laps for hours and fetching a tennis ball make him the happiest. Petey will want to meet you more than once before you can enter his circle of trust. Throwing a ball over the fence, going for walks with Petey and his handler, giving him treats without expectation, are all routes to earning his trust. A home that doesn’t entertain or have tons of company would be best for Petey. He is crate trained and has had sleep overs while at Home Fur Good and he is content in a crate. Petey is not a fan of cats, he is intrigued by horses, and he finds cows to be appalling. When a serious, committed adopter arrives for Petey, there will be HELP. Paid for training back with George at Couth Canine for both Petey and his new family. Petey’s fans want to set him up to succeed!

Ahhh, what to say about RANDY? Home Fur Good loves this guy, and we know his perfect family is out there that will love him just the way he is. And the way Randy "is,"... is a bit special! ;-) Randy has had a few failed adoptions thus far, but we all know you don't often find true love on the first try. Randy has spent quite a bit of time with our trainer, who has helped us gain some more insight into his personality. To start, Randy is a FUN guy! He clearly has a talent for doggy modelling, and would love a forever home that takes lots and lots of pictures of his handsome face. Randy is always willing to pose with his "sit" and "paw" tricks, and will happily show them off for some treats. Randy has the perfect moderate energy level. Sometimes he enjoys a good run around the yard with a toy, and sometimes he's happy to curl up on a bed and chill out with a chew bone. Randy is affectionate with those he knows (he loves a good back scratch), but also independent enough to sniff around and explore on his own. In fact, Randy has quite the independent streak to him, which is part of what has made finding his perfect forever fit a bit of a challenge. Per Home Fur Good's trainer, Randy has quite a stubborn streak to him, and will do best in a home that sets boundaries while still allowing Randy to be Randy. He does not enjoy being "forced" to do things, and does not respond well to "discipline-based" dog training. Randy will do best in a home that loves him just the way he is, and is willing to get to know Randy on his terms. Randy will also do best in a home with no small children, and no other animals. We KNOW Randy's perfect person is out there waiting for him... could that person be YOU? Randy is 6.5-years-old and weighs 52 pounds. Randy is currently in board and train with Home Fur Good's trainer in Phx. Call 602-971-1334 and we will get you in touch with Randy's trainer for a meet and greet. Randy's adoption fee is $150 and includes prior training, spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment only. View full description »

SATURN

SATURN
SATURNSATURNSATURN
  • Chihuahua, Mixed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Vaccinations up to date

Saturn is a one-year-old, 24-pound Chihuahua mix who’s searching for a patient adopter to help him feel safe and secure in the world. Currently a bit overwhelmed by his surroundings, Saturn thrives in calm, quiet environments where he can build trust at his own pace. He appreciates gentle movements and prefers being approached from the side. Though he’s wary of other dogs and busy settings, Saturn shows a softer side in peaceful spaces. If you sit on the ground and give him time, he’ll gather his courage and come closer. While he might stiffen up initially when touched, he soon inches forward, asking for more affection. Sudden movements, such as standing quickly, can intimidate him, but he’s a curious boy who enjoys sniffing and exploring once he feels comfortable. Saturn will need time and patience to decompress in a new home, but for those willing to go at his pace, he’ll reward them with loyal companionship. His adoption fee of $225 includes essential services such as spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. If you’re ready to offer Saturn a loving and steady home, schedule an appointment during adoption hours, Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, by calling 602-971-1334. Saturn is waiting to be your gentle, devoted friend. View full description »
